Primary Election Day is right around the corner, and it’s important that voters know what to expect for this year’s election in June.
“I always tell people to have a plan when it comes to voting, and here in New Jersey, you can choose a method that works best for you, Vote by Mail, early voting, or in-person voting,” said Clerk Pamela Lampitt. “Vote by Mail, gives all registered voters the opportunity to skip the lines at their polling place, while ensuring their voice is heard. Additionally, Vote by Mail increases access for seniors, college students, active-duty military, busy parents, people experiencing mobility limitations, and anyone else who may not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day.
Any registered voter can Vote by Mail, and no reason is necessary to apply. New Jersey residents can request ballots for all future elections, apply once and you will automatically receive a ballot for every election without having to re-apply. Applications are available at the County Clerk’s Office, or your Municipal Clerk’s Office. Voters can also apply to Vote by Mail online at https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/mib-request. The deadline to apply for Vote by Mail is Tuesday, May 26, for the primary election in June, so now is a great time to get it done and check it off your to-do list. Ballots are currently being mailed out, keep an eye on your mailbox and be sure to return yours as soon as possible.
Vote by Mail is a safe and reliable process, with several checks and balances in place. Ballots are verified to ensure that they are complete, that there are no duplicates, and they are submitted by eligible county residents. Voters are even able to track the progress of their ballots online.
Returning your ballot is simple. Camden County has 29 secure drop box locations that are available 24/7 through the close of polls on June 2. The locations are well-lit and are monitored by video surveillance cameras. Voters are also welcome to drop off their ballot to the Camden County Board of Elections (100 University Court, Gloucester Township, NJ 08012).
