Vineland Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Unlawful Possession of a Handgun

Woodbury, NJ – Danny D. Cabrera, Jr., 20, of Vineland, was sentenced Friday to a  5-year prison sentence by the Honorable Russell A. DePersia for unlawful  possession of a handgun pursuant to a plea agreement. 

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court: On June 6, 2024, Cabrera’s vehicle was stopped by the Franklin Township Police  Department. During the stop, a handgun was found in Cabrera’s waist bag. He was  subsequently charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon without  a permit and fourth-degree possession of large capacity ammunition. 

Cabrera pled guilty to the second-degree charge pursuant to his plea agreement and  will serve 5 years in state prison. 

Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns thanked the Franklin Township Police Department for  their assistance in the investigation.  

The State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Christian E. Dutill and  Assistant Prosecutor Douglas B. Pagenkopf.
