Philadelphia Police Report the Following Incidents


The following information is preliminary and subject to change. Updates will be shared as they become available. Current incidents will be shared as they are received throughout the day. 

16th District – Shooting

On August 29, 2026, at approximately 2:59 a.m., 16th District officers responded to a police radio assignment for a person with a gun/report of a shooting at 40th and Poplar Streets. Upon arrival, officers located a 45-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his right leg. Police transported the victim to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. No arrest has been made, and the motive remains unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group.

25th District – Stabbing

On August 29, 2026, at approximately 2:11 a.m., 25th District officers responded to the 4200 block of North 8th Street for a report of a stabbing. An adult male was stabbed and transported by medics to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Officers did not locate a scene. No arrest has been made, and the motive remains unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing with East Detectives.

39th District – Double Shooting

On August 28, 2026, at approximately 11:41 p.m., 39th District officers responded to a police radio assignment for a person with a gun on the 2700 block of West Westmoreland Street. Upon arrival, officers located a scene consisting of ballistic evidence and a blood trail, which was secured for further investigation.

A short time later, police received a second radio assignment for an auto accident at Broad and Cayuga Streets. SEPTA Police officers responded and located a 40-year-old male in the driver’s seat of a 2011 Audi A8L suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. SEPTA Police transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

A second victim, a 42-year-old male, later walked into Temple University Hospital and reported that he and the first victim had gone to the location after receiving a phone call regarding an altercation. According to the victim, after they arrived and exited the Audi, an unknown individual began shooting at them. The first victim fled the area in the vehicle, while the second victim fled on foot. The preliminary motive is believed to be an argument. No arrest has been made, and the investigation is ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group.

22nd District – Shooting

On August 28, 2026, at approximately 11:19 p.m., 22nd District officers responded to the 2400 block of North Carlisle Street for a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers checked the area for victims and witnesses with negative results. Moments later, a 22-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at Temple University Hospital. The victim told police that he had been in the area of the 2400 block of North Carlisle Street when the shooting occurred. Officers subsequently located a shooting scene. No arrest has been made, and the motive remains unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group.
