WHEELING, Ill. (WLS) (September 25, 2026)— The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has dropped an animal cruelty charge against the owner of a Wheeling pet resort where a 6-year-old dog was found dead in a hot van earlier this month. The incident happened on September 3, 2026
Miller, a 110-pound black Labrador, was found dead in a hot van after being transported to Waggles Pet Resort.
Waggles Owner Ross Niehaus was charged, but the state’s attorney’s office dropped the charge Friday.
