  • Rutgers-Camden Provost Roger J. Dennis and Rayman Solomon, dean of the law school in Camden, have been ordered to appear before a federal grand jury in Trenton that is looking into allegations of corruption against state Senator Wayne Bryant (D-Camden). Bryant was receiving $30,000 per year to lecture law students, but it is alleged that he rarely ever gave a lecture.
  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin Sebban of South Amboy was killed in Baquba, Iraq on Saturday while the medic was caring for his wounded fellow soldiers. The 29 year old was a graduate of East Brunswick Vocational- Technical High School and was the 69th soldier from New Jersey to be killed while serving in Iraq.
  • The College of New Jersey has cancelled senior week this year due to lack of interest. The lack of interest may be related to the ban on in-dorm alcohol.
  • Gambling revenues are facing stiff competition from outside of the state. The Assembly Budget Committee met at the Atlantic City Convention Center, where 75 people testified on the first day of the meeting, to discuss ways to increase or protect gambling revenues. One of the biggest points of discussion was subsidizing the state\’s horse racing industry with funds from the casinos. Anyone want to offer an opinion on whether casino gambling has been good or bad for New Jersey since it began in Atlantic City in the mid-70s?
