August 31, 2009In 2004 a law was passed tin Massachusetts that called for a special election to held to replace Kennedy’s Senate seat a few months after his passing instead of the governor appointing someone. Kennedy knew how crucial his vote would be in the healthcare fight and how important it was at this time for the state of Massachusetts to be represented by two people in the senate.
