Franklin Ice Cream Bar announces its season grand opening at 112 Market Street, starting Saturday, May 2nd through Labor Day. Franklin Fountain’s companion ice cream parlor for warm weather months is located just two doors down, in the heart of Confectionery Row. For this year’s menu, look for the return of their famous thick vanilla and chocolate custard, standard and seasonal pints, ice cream cakes, ice cream sandwiches and vegan and gluten-free options. President Trump Stands Fearless After Third Assassination Attempt

In a horrific moment on April 25 at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Trump and members of his Cabinet survived an assassination attempt when shots were fired. The President, First Lady, Vice President, and Cabinet officials are all safe and unharmed. The Secret Service quickly neutralized the threat and evacuated those present. The suspect was taken into custody.

Philadelphia Police Investigating Fatal Auto Accident

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at approximately 5:20 PM, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on the 4800 block of Spruce Street. 

Preliminary investigation  indicate that the operator of a vehicle appeared to suffer a sudden medical emergency. This resulted in the driver of the vehicle striking a parked, unoccupied car.

Traffic Advisory For This Week

The I-676 southbound Exit 1B to Collings Avenue/Collingswood is scheduled to be closed and detoured overnight for an additional two weeks as a bridge replacement and paving project advances in Camden and Gloucester City, Camden County. In addition, the Collings Road ramp to I-676 southbound is also scheduled to be closed overnight.

Maryfrances E. Ellis, 72, of Brooklawn

Maryfrances E. Ellis, (nee Scheib) Age 72, of Brooklawn, New Jersey, passed away on April 1, 2026, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maryfrances earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Temple University, a path that reflected her lifelong dedication to helping others.

Maryfrances devoted over 25 years as a Special Education teacher in New Jersey, where she made a lasting impact on countless students and families before her retirement. She was known for her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to all children in her care.

She was also a volunteer firewoman for many years in the 1980s thru 1990s with the Glendora Fire Department, demonstrating her deep sense of service and community involvement.

Wanted: Suspect Naseem Sills for Homicide in the 12th District

Philadelphia Police, Homicide Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating Naseem Sills 19-years-old who is wanted for the below listed homicide.

There is a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in this homicide case.

Homicide by Shooting Incident:
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 11:30 p.m., police responded to a radio call for a person with a gun, male shot on the 19XX block of South Salford Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

  • Victim #1:  Maurice Quain who was 19-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the head.  Philadelphia Fire Department Medic Unit pronounced the victim dead at 11:43 p.m.
  • Victim #2: An 18-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg.
  • Victim #3: A 23-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg.
  • Victim #4: A 21-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
  • Victim #5: An 18-year-old male suffered a graze wound to his head.
  • Victim #6: A 15-year-old female suffered a gunshot wound to her left foot.
  • Victim #7: A 16-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh.
  • Victim #8: A 14-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
  • Victim #9: A 24-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg.
