The Philadelphia Waterdogs will play for the 2026 U.S. Bank Premier Lacrosse League Championship after defeating the Boston Cannons, 13-10, in Monday’s semifinal at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah.
Philadelphia will face the Denver Outlaws on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 12:30 p.m. ET at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, N.J., less than 90 miles from Philadelphia, and the game will be televised nationally on ABC. The Waterdogs are seeking their second PLL championship after winning the franchise’s first title in 2022.
The Waterdogs’ roster features three players with hometown roots in the Philadelphia area and New Jersey. Michael Sowers is a native of Dresher, Pa., and attended Upper Dublin High School. CJ Kirst is from Bernardsville, N.J., and attended Delbarton School. Midfielder Dox Aitken is from Villanova, Pa., and attended Haverford High School.
Sowers and Kirst, both finalists for the PLL’s MVP award, led the way against Boston by combining for nine points on five goals and four assists. Sowers recorded a career-high 51 points this season, while Kirst set a PLL single-season record with 34 goals.

Dear great- grandmother of 7. Adel was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and moved to Gloucester City in 1946. She was a resident for over 60 years and was a faithful parishioner of Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City where she attended daily morning Mass.
Adel was a seamstress for over 50 years for the Bonnell Dress Company in Camden. She loved to play bingo, go to the casinos, dance and play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday Evening from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10:15 am at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, (at Brown Street) Gloucester City.

Seven different players found the back of the net as #18 Rowan posted an 8-0 shutout win at Penn State-Brandywine on Thursday.
Alexis Dzierzgowski led the offense with two goals and an assist. The Profs (3-0) got first-half scores from Cailey Bozinis, Sara Wiedeman, Angela Oliveto, Sydney Murphy, and Renata Cicala to stake the team to a 5-0 lead at the break.
After Dzierzgowski scored in the 51st and 55th minutes respectively, the sophomore assisted on the final score of the day in the 90th minute, setting up Alodia Traenkner to account for the scoring.
Goalies Enya Carthy and Ava Turrisi saw one shot combined to pick up the team’s second clean sheet of the year.
Penn State-Brandywine’s Jasmin Alvarez recorded 12 stops.

The Homicide Unit is investigating a double homicide by shooting that occurred in the 22nd District on the 2300 block of North 18th Street at approximately 5:31 p.m. An adult female and an adult male were transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where they were both pronounced deceased at 5:54 p.m. The scene is being held, and a firearm was recovered at the location. The investigation is ongoing with the Homicide Unit. The motive is unknown at this time.

The outbreak at the center of the nation’s largest known surge of the explosive diarrhea illness cyclosporiasis is over, officials say.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared the outbreak, linked directly to lettuce, as ended on Sept. 11, with a tally of 12,883 lab-confirmed cases across 21 states since May 1.
The CDC is still investigating several case clusters of the parasitic illness nationwide, but has only identified the source of one – iceberg lettuce grown by produce giant Taylor Farms in Mexico. At least five other outbreaks are still under investigation, according to the Food and Drug Administration’s foodborne illness investigations page.
