Preservation New Jersey is hosting an upcoming bus tour in partnership with Middlesex County to celebrate America 250. Each tour will begin at East Jersey Old Town Village and guide participants to a variety of historic sites across the county. These tours will highlight key locations connected to the 18th century offering insight into New Jersey’s role in the nation’s founding. Attendees will learn about local history, preservation efforts, and the significance of these sites today. UPDATE: The power outage was not the reason why electricity was loss in the Riverview Heights section of the city, according to a spokesperson for Public Service Electric and Gas.
Kathy Hennessy Riley, PSE&G Corporate Communications, said the cause was weather-related. “I wanted to clarify that the traffic light pole that was struck at Broadway and Market Street was not the cause of the local power outage that affected the Riverview Heights section of the City on Monday night.
The outage, which affected approximately 2500 customers, was weather-related. Crews worked to safely identify and address the issue and restore service to affected customers as quickly as possible.”
GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (CNBNews) (June 22, 2026)--The traffic light at Broadway and Market Street is apparently the cause of the local power outage that affected the Riverview Heights section of the City. The local police did not report how the light was knocked over. Neither did they release any information on whether there were any injuries. Businesses and residents lost electricity around 2 PM. It was restored at 6 PM.
Traffic lights along Broadway from Kohler Street to Market Street were offline. Many of the businesses along that stretch of highway closed their doors due to not having air conditioning. Residents living in the Carpenter Square Apartments were also affected.
Public Service Electric and Gas first notified customers that the electricity would be restored by 7 PM. Service was restored at 6:10 PM.

The traffic light at Broadway and Market Street was struck by either a car or a tractor-trailer. Work crews from Public Service Electric and Gas were at this location for several hours. Residents and businesses lost electricity around 2 PM today. Electric was restored around 6 PM. Local police released no information to the media about the incident.
The Borough of Brooklawn will be Celebrating the 4th of July along side of Westville, with a Firework Display, DJ, Food Trucks and a Face Painter. The Festivities will be on June 27, 2026 begin @ 6pm. The event will take place down at the Waterfront.

On June 20, at 10 a.m., at Croft Farm, 100 Bortons Mill Road, Cherry Hill, the Board of Commissioners will join Cherry Hill Mayor David Fleisher and the Cherry Hill Township Council to honor Juneteenth. The event will feature a community parade, live entertainment, local vendors and more.
“Juneteenth is a solemn recognition of the struggles and sacrifices of African Americans, but it is also a celebration of it is also a celebration of their resilience and achievements that have shaped our nation,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young. “In Camden County, we are dedicated to supporting the Black community, preserving our history, and fostering a more just and equitable future for all.”
In 2026, New Jersey commemorates the 250th anniversary of its first state constitution alongside the nation’s observance of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, an inflection point that reshaped both the United States and its colonies. As part of this semiquincentennial celebration, the New Jersey State Library, an affiliate of Thomas Edison State University, has unveiled a new digital and in-person exhibit exploring New Jersey’s evolving constitutional history.
Kicking off the season is the 9th Annual Summer Solstice Music Festival on Friday, June 19th from 2-10 p.m. on Haddon Avenue between Strawbridge Avenue & Cooper Street.
