Carousels are Increasingly Rare, But this One in Seaside Heights is Now a State Landmark

There are many rides at the Seaside Heights boardwalk but the Floyd L. Moreland Carousel is also a work of art.

“Everyone who comes to see the carousel is happy,” said Joe Verderosa, president of the Seaside Heights Historical Society. “It’s just a joyful place.”

The carousel has 58 rideable animals including horses, donkeys, and lions. The ride is now ADA-accessible for the first time. Image courtesy of Darren Tobia.

The sense of joy that surrounds the carousel has been heightened lately after it became the newest landmark to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places after a vote from the State Review Board in November. This is the culmination of a decadelong fight to save it.

In 2014, Casino Pier — which owned an arcade along the boardwalk that housed the carousel — planned to auction off this landmark. But local residents rallied and the local government stepped in to acquire it.

The Ritz Theatre Company Hosts Full Circle Sounds

This Black History Month, the Ritz Theatre Company will host Full Circle Sounds, an afternoon of live music, reflection, and community care on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Presented by the Haddon Township Equity Initiative (HTEI) and Ida’s Bookshop, with Shop Haddon proudly serving as a co-sponsor, the event invites the community to come together through the power of sound, storytelling, and shared experience.

Rooted in the understanding that music has long been a source of power, healing, and collective memory in the Black community, Full Circle Sounds creates space to slow down, tune in, and reflect on how sound connects us across time – holding joy and grief, protest and praise – while fostering belonging and connection.

The afternoon will be hosted by Seraiah Nicole and feature live performances by Leah Wrenne, Dise, Rae Dianz, Matte, Malik Henry, and Maya Belardo.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Free tickets are available for community members in need to ensure cost is not a barrier to participation.

Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul: What to know ahead of Netflix Judgement Day Boxing Event

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in a professionally sanctioned heavyweight bout on 19 December at the Kaseya Center in Miami

The fight, branded Judgement Day, will be streamed live on Netflix, at no extra cost to current subscribers.

Britain’s Joshua, the 36-year-old former two-time unified heavyweight champion, will take on the YouTuber-turned-boxer over eight three-minute rounds, with both fighters wearing regulation 10-ounce gloves.

This represents a replacement fight for Paul, who was originally scheduled to face Gervonta Davis in an exhibition earlier this month before it was cancelled due to a lawsuit filed against Davis by his ex-girlfriend.

Instead, the American will face his most credible opponent to date in Joshua, a former heavyweight champion with a professional record of 28 wins and four losses, 25 of those victories coming by knockout.
