HTPD Firearms Training This Week

Reminder that we will be training at the William Wilt Soccer Complex March 16-20th from approximately 8:30AM to 1PM each day. You may hear gunfire during this time and access to the park will be restricted.

The 2026 firearms training schedule for the Harrison Township Police Department is pictured above. During the listed days/times, the William Wilt Soccer Complex will be CLOSED to the general public. As always, we thank you for your patience and understanding as our officers complete this mandatory training.

Pi Day at The Franklin Institute

Saturday, March 14, 2026 | 11 a.m. – 3:14 p.m.

Calling all the brainiacs: A totally “irrational celebration of the brain” is taking over Philly’s premier science museum, The Franklin Institute. Test the limits of the old noggin and show off your smarts with hands-on science activities, engaging demonstrations and expert-led dissections in honor of Pi Day and Brain Awareness Day.

Journey around the universe in an interactive show, Pi in the Sky Tonight; be one of the first 314 braniacs to find the Pi Day cart and win a limited-edition Spiced Apple Pie donut from Federal Donuts; or get up-close-and-personal with the brains of humans, snakes, dolphins and more.

52 Weeks of Firsts honors 250 years of Philly pioneering by celebrating the city’s many historic achievements — every Saturday, all throughout 2026. Featured Philadelphia “firsts” include inventions like the Slinky, cultural milestones such as Mother’s Day and significant locations like the first African Methodist Episcopal church.

The free celebrations take place at the original location of each first (or in spaces that represent where these significant milestones occurred) and include guest speakers, a sculpture, monthly marquee events and historic deep dives by Once Upon a Nation.

This Saturday, don’t miss the celebration of the first women’s medical college in America (1850) at the Drexel University Health Sciences Building.

Amyloidosis Awareness Event

Hidden in Plain Sight: Understanding a Rare Heart Condition

Amyloidosis is a rare disease that occurs when abnormal proteins build up in the body’s organs and tissues. Because its symptoms can resemble more common health issues, the condition is often overlooked, making awareness and early detection especially important.

Community members are invited to attend “Hidden in Plain Sight,” an informative event focused on ATTR amyloidosis, a rare form of heart disease that can quietly develop while appearing as everyday symptoms. During the program, attendees will learn how this condition can affect the heart, why it is frequently misdiagnosed, and what warning signs to watch for. Strollin’ through the Colon” for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center will host a public outreach event at the Food Bank of South Jersey featuring a “Strollin’ Colon,” a walk-through inflatable colon to help educate the public on colon cancer and the importance of early screening.

WHEN: Tuesday, March 10, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

WHERE: Food Bank of South Jersey (1501 John Tipton Boulevard, Pennsauken, NJ 08110)

WHO: Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center experts will be available to answer questions about colorectal cancer along with providing resources for prevention, screening and early detection.

Details: Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, according to the American Cancer Society. Screening guidelines now recommend those at average risk start screening at age 45 or sooner for anyone with a family history of colorectal cancer. Throughout the month of March, the “Strollin’ Colon” will be visiting other community centers and Jefferson Health locations.

Fishtown’s Stouts and Snouts Returns to 20+ Restaurants and Bars on St. Pat’s Weekend

Philadelphia, PA – Fishtown Kensington Area Business Improvement District invites beer lovers, foodies and fun-seekers to the return of Stouts & Snouts, a neighborhood-wide celebration of bold brews, creative cocktails and delicious pork-inspired bites.
