Gov. Chris Christie lost another court battle in his attempt to keep secret a key cog in his taxpayer-funded publicity machine.

Superior Court Judge Mary C. Jacobson denied the New Jersey governor’s plea for a stay pending a possible appeal of her order to release a copy of a strategic list of 2,500 media contacts to New Jersey Watchdog.

In an eight-page decision, Jacobson concluded it is \”unlikely (the governor’s office) will succeed on the merits of the case.\”

The Highest Tax Increase in Chicago\’s History on the Horizon; Homicide Rate Climbs to 308

Chicago Democrat Mayor Rahm Emanuel is set to call for the largest property tax $\"Images\"$ increase in modern Chicago history to raise enough money to make a major pension payment for police and firefighters next year, the mayor\’s City Council floor leader and a City Hall source told the Chicago Tribune last Wednesday.

The mayor also plans to push a new garbage collection tax, a new per-ride fee on taxis and ride-hailing services such as Uber and a new tax on electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products.Fewer details were available on the e-cigarette tax and new taxi and ride-hailing fees. Ald. Edward Burke, 14th, previously had proposed a $1-per-ride fee on rides from taxis and companies such as Uber and Lyft. Emanuel will unveil his budget on Sept. 22.

On October 11, 1849, the cornerstone for the first Presbyterian Church was laid. Then on Sunday, December 10, 1850, the church building was depicted minus a steeple.

After much discussion a spike was purchased and placed on the church raising to the height of 82 feet.

Now Mr. Henry F. West thought the steeple should house a bell, but knowing the congregation could not afford one he decided to donate one on his own.

House Fire in Erial on Labor Day, One Fireman Injured

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP (September 8, 2015)–On Monday, September 7, at 5:09 PM, Gloucester Township Police and fire personnel from the Erial Fire Department were called to the 40 Block of Highland Avenue in Erial for a report of a house fire. Some alert neighbors had saw the smoke and made contact with the homeowners. Officers and firefighters arrived on location and found heavy smoke coming from two neighboring homes.

Anglers Could Be On The Hook for Pennsylvania\’s Public Pensions | Watchdog.org

It’s no big fish story: Pennsylvania’s growing public pension obligations could soon hook anglers across the state.

Lawmakers are considering increasing fishing license and permit fees for the first time since 2005 as the state Fish and Boat Commission trolls for about $9.1 million in revenue to sustain core operations while paying for ballooning retirement and health care costs. Nearly $7.5 million alone is needed to pay for upcoming pension obligations, said John Arway, executive director of the commission.

ON THE HOOK: The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission could charge more for fishing licenses to help pay upcoming pension obligations.

Under a proposal authored by state Sen. Jim Brewster, D-Allegheny, the increases would apply to the 2017 license year. The annual resident license fee would rise from $21 to $26.25 and annual senior licenses would increase from $10 to $12.50, both 25 percent hikes.

Like the seemingly always rising school property taxes, the prospect of more expensive fishing licenses is a tangible reminder of Pennsylvania’s pension problem. The state, as of this spring, had piled up about $60 billion in public pension debt after shortchanging its annual contributions for years.
