THE SECRETIVE GLOUCESTER CITY COUNCIL—At a recent executive session of Gloucester City Mayor and Council, City Solicitor Leonard Wood gave an in-depth report on the ongoing negotiations with the NHP Foundation and what they are looking to do with financing the purchase of city-owned property Chatham Square.
CNBNews submitted an OPRA requesting a copy of that report and was told by the custodian of records, Kathy Jentsch, \”This matter is currently in the negotiation stage. These materials are in the possession of our attorney for that purpose-attorney client privilege\”.
According to their website, The NHP Foundation, (NHPF) owns 30 properties in 12 states and the District of Columbia, totaling approximately 6,000 units of low-and-moderate-income. They own two sites in New Jersey, the Hollybush Garden, Glassboro (252 units) and Washington Dodd Apartments, Orange (300 units). See website
The James administration purchased the property in 2008 for $4.25 million claiming the apartments were being used by \”drug dealers\”, and the criminals were a \”strain on the local police department\”. Mayor and council also said some of the people living there were a \”strain\” on the local school district.

DOVER (July 17, 2015) – DNREC’s Natural Resources Police Environmental Crimes Unit arrested a New Castle County man and woman Thursday and charged them with reckless endangerment after an incident last month at a Newark apartment complex that left four people suffering from effects of pepper spray and drew emergency responders to the scene when first reported as a hazmat situation.

I love their small, plain cherry pie. One of the best I\’ve ever had, and I\’ve had plenty. Sonya is a charming lady who also appears with her taste treats at the Haddon Heights Farm Market on Sunday mornings. She also has a \”bakery camp\” for children in the summer.

Mildred C. Vets (nee Marston), on July 19, 2015; formerly of Runnemede NJ, Spring Hill FL, and a longtime resident of Villas NJ. Age 103.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband, John P. Vets, a former upholsterer in Haddonfield NJ. She was cherished by her children John \”Jack\” (Norma), William \”Bill\” (Elaine), and Marie Victor (Frank). Beloved grandmother of Philip Vets, Robert Vets, David Victor, Steven Vets, John Victor, and the late Anne and great grandmother of seven. Also survived by many great great grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Mildred enjoyed traveling across the country with her late husband in their Airstream trailer. Her greatest enjoyment however was sitting on her porch at her home in the Villas by the Delaware Bay.
There will be a viewing from 9:15 to 10:15am Friday at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.
Funeral Mass 11am Friday at Holy Child Parish, St. Teresa RC Church, Runnemede. Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Newswise — PHILADELPHIA – Increased radiation dose is associated with higher survival rates in men with medium- and high-risk prostate cancer, but not men with low-risk prostate cancer, according to a new study from Penn Medicine published this week in JAMA Oncology. Already-high survival rates for men with low-risk prostate cancer were unaffected by higher radiation dosages compared to lower radiation dosages.
In 2014, low-risk prostate cancer was the most common type of prostate cancer diagnosed in the United States, affecting about 150,000 patients, many of whom undergo aggressive treatment, either complete removal of the prostate or radiation.

Margaret F. \”Marge\” Kahlan, age 79 died on July 17, 2015 at the age of 79.. (nee Toussaint) In the loving and devoted care of her husband of 61 years, Karl J. Kahlan. Cherished mother of Karl J. (Tamara) Kahlan, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Kathy (Bob) Jentsch of Gloucester City. Devoted daughter of the late Herbert H. and Margaret Toussaint (nee O’Neill). Dear Sister of Patricia (Richard) Lucas of Southampton. Beloved grandmother of 4, step-grandmother of 3, great-grandmother of 5 and step-great-grandmother of 5.
Marge was born in Camden and was a longtime resident of Gloucester City. She was a 41 year parishioner of Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City and was an active and devoted member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas: Court Giese # 439 in Gloucester City. Marge was a doctors assistant for Dr. Lopresti, Allen and Miller in Haddon Heights. She was a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in the Gift Shop since 2006.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Marge’s Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 am at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. There is No viewing nor visitation. Please meet directly at Church.
