On January 27, 2015. Age 81. Of Gloucester City. (nee Helms) Daughter of the late Ira and Laura Helms. Survived by her sons Harry, Thomas and Jay Clayton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her 3 siblings.

Keenan (Audrey), Janice Keenan (Richard Sr.) and Stephanie Hevey (Jerry) and their father Charles M. Keenan. Cherished grandmother of Richard Seiverd, Jr., Charmaine Seiverd, Shana Keenan, Charles P. Keenan, Jr., Meghan Hevey and Katelyn Hevey. Cherished great-grandmother of Giavonna, Joshua, Devin, Kyle, Layla, Mariah and Ashton. Dear sister of Peggy Whitman (John) and the late Thomas Freidel (surviving Elaine). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

 

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 28, 1942, Betty was raised in National Park and Gloucester City. She was a graduate of Woodbury High School and worked many years at Acme in Audubon. Betty was a member of the Drill and Baton team with Verga VFW Post #7125.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday morning, February 2, 2015 from 9 to 11 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church: 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Interment will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.

The young Ukrainian men and women—many of them out of work and with few prospects—were promised good-paying jobs in the United States. But instead of living the American dream, they were thrust into a nightmare of violence, threats, and forced servitude.

For years, five brothers who ran a human trafficking organization victimized dozens of unwitting Ukrainians, underscoring the reality that modern-day slavery exists in the United States and around the world—and requires a strong response by governments and law enforcement.

D.A.R.E. and Keepin’ It Real are programs that help our Officers proactively take a stand against drugs with students by supplying facts directly to students during each session. The School District’s Guidance Team will also be reading drug facts each morning during announcements with the Pine Hill Police Department to continue the trend and support the nationally observed week.

 

 

 

 

Statistics released today in the FBI’s Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report reveal overall declines in both the number of violent crimes and the number of property crimes reported for the first six months of 2014 when compared with figures for the first six months of 2013. The report is based on information from 11,009 law enforcement agencies that submitted three to six months of comparable data to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program for the first six months of 2013 and 2014.
