PITTSGROVE, N.J. – Schalick (Pittsgrove, N.J.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Deandre Solomon ran for a touchdown with 5:00 remaining, bringing the team to victory over Gloucester City High School, Gloucester City (N.J.) 27-18.

After nabbing the lead on a touchdown run, the Lions went into halftime with a 13-6 lead. The Cougars took the lead to win the game on a touchdown run by Solomon in the fourth quarter.

Despite scoring seven points in the third, Schalick still trailed by six points going into the fourth quarter. But 13 points in the fourth helped SHS pull out the victory.

A 47-45 Schalick victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The win was a nice bounce back for the Cougars, who lost to Gloucester Catholic last week, 19-14. The loss comes after Gloucester City defeated Pitman 18-14 last week.

Quitline calls spiked dramatically when 2013 ads were running; fell quickly when they were not  

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 2013 Tips From Former Smokers campaign produced more than 150,000 additional calls to 1-800-QUIT NOW, a number that links callers to their state quitlines, according to a report in this week’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. The campaign also generated almost 2.8 million additional visitors to the campaign website,www.cdc.gov/tips. The website features information on the campaign, as well as information on how to quit smoking from the National Cancer Institute’s www.smokefree.gov website.

Michael Martina (DOB 10/15/64), of Audubon, was sentenced today (9/20) to seven years in New Jersey state prison after pleading guilty 3/4/13 to second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, specifically, having improper oral contact with a nine-year-old child at his former Harrison Township residence in 2008.

RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Thursday it has entered a three-year partnership with the City of Richmond to bring the A-10 Women’s Basketball Championship to the Richmond Coliseum beginning in 2014. PINE HILL NJ–On September 13th, 2013 between the hours of 7:30pm and 11:30pm Pine Hill Police Officers were assigned to a directed patrol in the 200 block of W. Branch Avenue. While on the directed patrol the officers observed a vehicle in the area driving carelessly. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Jason Hopkins and the passenger as Ryan Mitchell.

During the course of the investigation Ryan Mitchell was taken into custody on an active warrant for his arrest. Search of his person incident to his arrest led to the seizure of a 12 packets of Heroin and a quantity of Marijuana. Continued investigation led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle for possession of a blackjack and possession of fireworks. Jason Hopkins was processed accordingly and released pending court. Ryan Mitchell was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
