MAHWAH, NJ — #1 Rowan ran away with its 24th New Jersey Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship and 11th title in a row on Sunday to cap the two-day meet hosted by Ramapo.
The Profs put together 319.33 points behind three-first place finishes on Saturday and eight more on Sunday. TCNJ was second with 213 points with host Ramapo in third (86.33).

Rowan’s Madison Rothwein was named the 2026 NJAC Midfielder of the Year and Leah Corkhill was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year as the conference announced its annual awards. Head coach Lindsay Delaney and staff were named the Coaching Staff of the Year with Elaina Corson, Fiona Lockhart, Alexis Lowry and Jenna O’Neill joining Rothwein and Corkhill on the All-Conference Team.

Governor Mikie Sherrill announced a call for submissions for the pilot phase of the Permitting Dashboard on her 100th day in office, the first public-facing tool of its kind in New Jersey that will help streamline and bring greater transparency to the state’s permitting process. This is part of a whole-of-government effort to reform the state’s permitting system to save businesses and residents time and money.
The pilot will solicit applications from energy, commercial, and multi-family housing projects that have recently submitted—or are about to submit—permit applications to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and/or New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. Up to 10 projects will be randomly selected from this pool for the pilot, allowing them to track the progress of their cross-agency permits in one place.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but for many teens, stress, anxiety and emotional noise are a daily reality. In response, 2025 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year and certified mindfulness and trauma-informed resilience trainer Stefanie Lachenauer is helping young people build the skills they need to navigate those challenges year-round.
Her book, Let the Glitter Settle: Mindfulness for Teens, offers simple, accessible practices that help teens pause, reset and regain a sense of control when emotions feel overwhelming. Rooted in nearly two decades of classroom experience and neuroscience-informed practices, Lachenauer’s approach meets students where they are — providing relatable, teen-friendly practices that build resilience, support emotional regulation and create space for calm.

| Today, Congressman Van Drew provided an update on conditions at the Atlantic City Housing Authority (ACHA), including immediate relief for residents and a long-term fix to ongoing elevator failures. “Elevators breaking down in these buildings has been a problem across multiple ACHA properties for years, especially Shore Park Hi Rise on Virginia Avenue, where many seniors and residents with disabilities live,” said Congressman Van Drew. “It is unacceptable. Since the federal takeover of the ACHA, real leaders have been put in charge to take action and fix these problems. Recently, I announced more than $12 million in federal funding to help stabilize the ACHA and improve conditions for residents. I can now confirm that a portion of that funding will be used to fully replace the broken elevators. In the meantime, the elevators are operating again, and HUD has people on the ground right now helping residents day-to-day with groceries, mobility needs, and anything else that comes up. NOAA Fisheries announces the adjusted quotas for the 2026 Atlantic shark commercial fisheries.
The Atlantic shark commercial fishing year automatically opened on January 1, 2026 under base quotas.
NOAA Fisheries has adjusted the 2026 commercial quotas based on underharvests from the 2025 fishing year, consistent with existing regulations.
Marking the 100th day of the Sherrill Administration, the Department of Environmental Protection today launched Operation FAST, a comprehensive effort to make the DEP more efficient and responsive to the public and businesses. This initiative will help make New Jersey more affordable while continuing to implement the state’s high standards for protection of the environment and public health.

The 2026 year’s program will share the stories behind the nominations, highlight ongoing preservation efforts, and reflect on both the successes and challenges of saving these irreplaceable places. Attendees will also hear directly from site stewards and community advocates working to protect these landmarks.

On Sunday, April 26, The Jefferson Health Foundation – New Jersey, hosted 333 participants and raised over $60,000 at the inaugural Cherry Blossom Run/Walk fundraiser benefiting the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Centers in New Jersey, helping to expand access to advanced cancer care close to home in Cherry Hill and Washington Township.
Held at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital, Cherry Blossom Run/Walk participants, made up of individuals, families, teams and four-legged companions, either ran in a 5K or walked a 1-mile course.
“This event brought our mission to life in a visible and meaningful way,” says Tamara LaCouture, MD, East Region Chief of Cancer Services. “Every step taken supported patients who are navigating cancer with strength and resilience.”
