Have you been thinking about holding a National Night Out Block Party in your neighborhood? Are you a business owner in Gloucester Township that would like to get involved with our community?

Join the Gloucester Township Police Community Relations Bureau on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 6pm in the Gloucester Township Court Room located at, 1261 Chews Landing Road Laurel Springs, NJ 08021, for our Annual National Night Out Kickoff Meeting!

We will discuss details and our goals for our upcoming National Night Out on August 4th and give you the tools and ideas to get your block party started. When you sign your neighborhood up for National Night Out you will receive a visit from our police department at your location!

Secure Garbage as Black Bears Emerge from Winter Dens

With the onset of spring, black bears are actively foraging for food and may wander into neighborhoods in search of an easy meal. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is reminding residents to be bear aware by securing garbage and other potential food sources that can attract them. Together, the bear safety resources and tips shared by NJDEP Fish & Wildlife are furthering the Sherrill Administration’s mission to deliver safer communities across the state.

Jake Schurmann Named New Jersey Circle K District Governor

New Jersey District Circle K Governor Jake Schurmann, New Jersey District Kiwanis International Governor Frank Cahill, and Circle K Immediate Past Governor Dylan Caraballo.

At the annual New Jersey Circle K District Convention, held at the Sheraton Hotel, Raritan Center, Jake Schurmann was selected to serve as the organization’s 2026–2027 District Governor.

A Freehold resident and current student at Rutgers University studying Psychology and Statistics, Jake brings a strong commitment to service, leadership, and growth within Circle K International (CKI). Over the past year, he has served as Lieutenant Governor of the Seabreeze Division, where he dedicated countless hours visiting clubs, mentoring executive boards, and supporting overall divisional growth.

‘Somebunny’ Made a Special Visit to Jefferson Health’s NICU Babies

These baby chicks may have hatched early, but they were photo-ready for a special first visit from the Easter Bunny. Babies from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital posed for a heartwarming holiday photo moment — proof that these tiny patients are sweeter than the confections most kids will find in their Easter baskets. The creative shoot, led by NICU staff, is designed to offer a bright moment and keepsake to families who are navigating the ups and downs of their infant’s hospital stay.

DRBC Sr. Chemist/Toxicologist Dr. Jeremy Conkle will be one of the presenters at an upcoming webinar hosted by the New Jersey Section of the American Water Resources Association (NJ-AWRA). NJ Department of Corrections Releases Latest Recidivism Report

Report highlights continued record-low number of individuals released and reincarcerated for a new offense within three years of release

The New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) announces the publication of the 2021 Recidivism Outcome Report, which found that that reincarcerations for new criminal convictions continue to decline. The report, which tracks 4,174 individuals released in 2021 over a three-year period, demonstrates the continued effectiveness of the Department’s rehabilitation and reentry initiatives in strengthening public safety across New Jersey.

The latest report shows that New Jersey’s recidivism rate has reached a new low; only 6% of those released in 2021 were reincarcerated for a new conviction within three years. This reflects a significant long-term downward trend since 2013, dropping approximately 50 percent for both the male (approximately 12 percent to 6 percent) and female (approximately 4 percent to just under 2 percent) release cohort.

Jefferson Health Cherry Blossom Run for Cancer Care April 26

Registration is now open for the inaugural Jefferson Health Cherry Blossom Run/Walk fundraiser on April 26 at 9:00 am at the Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital campus (2201 Chapel Ave W, Cherry Hill, NJ.)

Proceeds will benefit the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Centers in New Jersey, helping to expand access to advanced cancer care close to home in Cherry Hill and Washington Township.

“This event brings our mission to life in a visible and meaningful way,” says Tamara LaCouture, MD, East Region Chief of Cancer Services. “Every step taken supports patients who are navigating cancer with strength and resilience.”

Participants can choose between a 5K run or a 1-mile walk, with options for individuals, families and teams. Friendly competition, team spirit and even four-legged companions are all part of the experience.

Advanced registration is $40 for runners and $25 for walkers. Youth runners (12 and below) are $20 and youth walkers (12 and below) are free. Day-of registration will be available at $50 for runners and $35 for walkers. (Registration will start at 7:30 am.)

All NJMVC Facilities to Close for the State Holiday on Friday, April 3rd

All New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) facilities, including agencies, road test sites, and inspection stations, will be closed Friday, April 3, 2026, in observance of the state holiday.

Regular operations will be in effect at NJMVC facilities the rest of the week, including on Saturday, April 4.

The Commission’s website at NJMVC.gov remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
