May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but for many teens, stress, anxiety and emotional noise are a daily reality. In response, 2025 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year and certified mindfulness and trauma-informed resilience trainer Stefanie Lachenauer is helping young people build the skills they need to navigate those challenges year-round.

Her book, Let the Glitter Settle: Mindfulness for Teens, offers simple, accessible practices that help teens pause, reset and regain a sense of control when emotions feel overwhelming. Rooted in nearly two decades of classroom experience and neuroscience-informed practices, Lachenauer’s approach meets students where they are — providing relatable, teen-friendly practices that build resilience, support emotional regulation and create space for calm.

FIFA has unveiled the official volunteer uniform for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, featuring a bold and uplifting design that tournament volunteers will wear as they welcome the world in style. Supporting 24 areas across stadiums and training sites, FIFA Fan Festival™ venues and other key locations in Host Cities, volunteers will play an exciting part in bringing this year’s FIFA World Cup™ to life in North America – and this uniform will serve as their staple look.

Designed by adidas, a long-standing FIFA Partner, the uniform features the FIFA World Cup 2026 visual identity and highlights the FIFA Volunteer Programme’s signature heart-shaped pattern, recognising volunteers as the heartbeat of the tournament. The vibrant colours match the incredible energy that volunteers bring to FIFA events.

Developed to meet the needs of volunteers while on shift in diverse climates across North America, the collection offers layering pieces and breathable materials to support volunteers at all times. The full volunteer kit contains multiple options to mix and match into an outfit, including sneakers, socks, a mid-layer jacket, T-shirts, shorts, joggers, a cap, a waist bag and a unique customising element – Host City-specific patches. Every volunteer will receive three of these patches, which are inspired by North America’s varsity jacket culture, allowing them to personalise their look while honouring the Host City that they represent.

More than one million people applied to become part of the largest FIFA Volunteer Programme yet, which will consist of nearly 50,000 volunteers. Reflecting football’s global diversity, the volunteer team unites individuals aged 18 to over 80 from around the world. From students to retirees, and from first-timers to returnees, volunteers will play a vital role in helping to create memorable experiences for anyone attending the tournament. For many, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be at the heart of football’s biggest moments and to leave a legacy in the community.

The latest step in the volunteer journey for this year’s FIFA World Cup came last month, with role-specific training kicking off across Host Cities. This represented a celebratory moment, as participants came together in person for the first time within their respective areas and had the opportunity to meet their fellow volunteers. In the coming weeks, they will be visiting their local volunteer centre or uniform distribution and accreditation centre to receive their uniforms.

Van Drew Provides Atlantic City Housing Authority Update, Announces Elevator Replacements

Today, Congressman Van Drew provided an update on conditions at the Atlantic City Housing Authority (ACHA), including immediate relief for residents and a long-term fix to ongoing elevator failures.
“Elevators breaking down in these buildings has been a problem across multiple ACHA properties for years, especially Shore Park Hi Rise on Virginia Avenue, where many seniors and residents with disabilities live,” said Congressman Van Drew. “It is unacceptable. Since the federal takeover of the ACHA, real leaders have been put in charge to take action and fix these problems. Recently, I announced more than $12 million in federal funding to help stabilize the ACHA and improve conditions for residents. I can now confirm that a portion of that funding will be used to fully replace the broken elevators. In the meantime, the elevators are operating again, and HUD has people on the ground right now helping residents day-to-day with groceries, mobility needs, and anything else that comes up. We are going to keep working until these conditions are fully fixed for the long term.”

Commissioners, Michaels Organization Open Affordable Housing Complex

According to Zillow, the United States’ housing deficit grew to 4.7 million in 2025, furthering the nation’s affordability crisis. Camden County College Observes National Apprenticeship Week

Representatives from the U.S Department of Labor discussed workforce needs and apprenticeship initiatives at Camden County College.

The event featured New Jersey’s first AI Registered Apprenticeship program. They also recognized a Camden County College Manufacturing Apprenticeship graduate. Additional discussions will focus on preparing students for in-demand trade and technical roles.

“As a proud union carpenter for over thirty years, I’ve seen firsthand how skilled trades and registered apprenticeships can transform lives, and strengthen communities,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young. “These pathways create access to stable, in-demand careers while building a stronger and more resilient workforce.”

The event is part of National Apprenticeship Week, held from April 26-May 2, a nationwide initiative coordinated by the U.S Department of Labor. The week celebrates the impact of Registered Apprenticeships and promotes the expansion of career pathways for students and workers.

Rowan Earns Top NJAC Baseball Awards

Rowan’s Brayden Davis was named the 2026 Bill Dioguardi NJAC Player of the Year and Nick Watson was chosen as the Fireman of the Year as the duo were among a group of seven Profs to be honored in the conference’s annual awards. Head coach Mike Dickson and his assistants earned the Jeff Albies Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Davis was named to the All-Conference First Team along with Joey Bogart and Mason Dorsey, with Ian Murphy earning Second-Team honors. Watson received All-NJAC Honorable Mention along with Jason Schooley and Damon Suriani.

Dickson and the staff of Jordan Friedman, Chris Rollins, Gary Herron and Jason O’Neill guided the fifth-ranked Rowan (29-5) to its first NJAC regular-season title since 2023 with a 15-3 conference record. It marks the third NJAC coaching honor for Dickson.
