Camden County Roadwork Projects

Several roadway projects will be underway across Camden County during the week of June 1 to June 5.

“Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris.”

Camden

PSE&G will be working on North 27^th Street on Monday, June 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be a partial road closure eastbound between River Avenue & Garfield Avenue.
PSE&G will be working on Marlton Pike and Baird Boulevard on Monday, June 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be lane shifts at the intersection of Marlton Pike and Baird Boulevard.
PSE&G will be working on Newton Avenue on Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a full road closure between Chestnut Street and Kaighn Avenue.

NJDOT Traffic Advisory

Overnight lane and ramp closures are scheduled on Route 42 northbound, I-295 northbound and I-76 eastbound next week for structural steel installation as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County.

Route 42 northbound to I-76 westbound Lane Closures

Beginning at 10 p.m. Monday, June 1 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 2 and continuing each night through Thursday, June 4 at the same time and on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, three left lanes on Route 42 northbound will be closed between Leaf Avenue (mile post 13.8) and where Route 42 northbound splits to I-76 westbound and
I-295 northbound (mile post 14.2). Motorists will be directed to take Exit 1B to I-295 northbound/Trenton. Stay left to take Exit 27B to I-76 to I-676 and Route 130/Camden/Philadelphia.

Sherrill, Jain Announce NJDOT’s First Design-Build Contract Award

Governor Mikie Sherrill and New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Priya Jain today announced Agate Construction Company, Inc. and A. Servidone, Inc./B. Anthony Construction Corp. JV have been awarded a $47.7 million contract for the Department’s first Design-Build project, the Route 50 Bridge over Cedar Swamp Creek replacement project, located in Upper Township, Cape May County.

“When I took office, I made clear that we were going to do things differently and deliver for the people of New Jersey. That means taking more efficient, innovative approaches to modernizing our aging infrastructure. The Route 50 Bridge project reflects that, by replacing this critical connection to Cape May County and key coastal evacuation route through New Jersey’s first-ever Design-Build approach. By combining design and construction into one streamlined process, we’re cutting delays, lowering costs, and delivering this long-overdue upgrade faster for New Jerseyans.”

PSE&G will be working on East Atlantic Avenue from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be a partial road closure eastbound, between West Merchant Street & Dowling Avenue, and a partial road closure eastbound, between Chestnut Street & West Vassar Road.

Barrington

PSE&G will be working on Copley Road on Thursday, May 28, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be a partial road closure westbound, between Warwick Road & Mercer Drive.

Keep it Clean NJ!

New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Priya Jain announced that the Department is launching an anti-litter campaign aimed at summer travelers. The main component will be flying an aerial banner over the Jersey Shore with the message: Keep it Clean NJ.

“With the start of summer, New Jersey’s highways will be filled with people driving to vacation destinations across the state – whether they are going to hike the Appalachian Trail in North Jersey or going down to the Shore to enjoy our beaches and boardwalks,” NJDOT Commissioner Priya Jain said. “Keeping our roadways, bike paths, and boardwalks clean and litter free is everyone’s responsibility. Flying a banner in the skies above the Jersey Shore, as well as over the World Cup matches, is a creative and simple way to remind millions of people to respect the environment and keep New Jersey beautiful by simply putting trash in its proper place.”

Seat Belts Saves LivesBuckle Up May 18 – May 31, and Every Day

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration is urging drivers to buckle up ahead of the Click It or Ticket seat belt
safety campaign. The national high-visibility seat belt enforcement effort, which coincides
with the Memorial Day holiday, runs May 18-31, 2026.
In 2024, there were 9,758 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in traffic crashes. The
national seat belt use rate in 2024 was 91.2%, which is good — but it can be better. The other
8.8% still need to be reminded that seat belts save lives. Participating law enforcement
agencies will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement, writing citations
day and night.
One of the focuses of the Click It or Ticket seat belt campaign is nighttime enforcement.
NHTSA data shows a higher number of unrestrained occupant fatalities happen at night (56%
between the hours of 6 p.m. and 5:59 a.m.). Of the males killed in crashes in 2023, more than
half (53%) were unrestrained. For females killed in crashes, 41% were not buckled up.

GTPD Participates in Click It or Ticket Seat Belt Campaign

GLOUCESTER TWP (CNBNews)–The Gloucester Township Police Department will participate in the 2026 Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign. The initiative runs from May 18, 2026 through May 31, 2026 and is coordinated by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The annual campaign is designed to promote seat belt use through high-visibility enforcement and public education efforts aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.
