Chicago is a city where families depend on hospitals, treatment centers, and psychiatric facilities to provide compassionate care when a loved one is in a vulnerable state. Across the city, psychiatric care can involve patients facing severe mental health crises, medication changes, involuntary treatment, or conditions that make it difficult to speak up about what happens in private. That vulnerability makes recognizing possible abuse or neglect especially important.
