Police Chief Issues Back To School Traffic Rules

First, there has been a traffic pattern change on the 500 block of Cumberland Street. This block is now a one way street going east toward Broadway. As you enter the 500 block of Cumberland from Atlantic you can now drive to the left or right of the middle parking area. Vehicles arriving from Joy Street will only be allowed to make a right turn toward Broadway. Officers will be assigned to the area for the first few weeks to give out warnings for those who violate the traffic pattern. After the warning period traffic citations will be issued and these citations carry a hefty fine and two points on the violator\’s driver\’s license. We are asking everyone to please pay attention to the traffic signs.
