Legendary FOX Sports broadcaster Mike Joy will add another milestone to his celebrated motorsports career this weekend at Dover Motor Speedway, serving as the honorary starter by waving the green flag for Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race at The Monster Mile.

The moment carries special meaning for Joy, who grew up in the Northeast and has spent decades calling races at many of the region’s most historic tracks. Despite more than five decades in motorsports broadcasting, Joy has never before served as the honorary starter for a NASCAR Cup Series race.

Bally’s Beach Bar at Bally’s Atlantic City Casino Resort

Set to Open for the Summer Season Friday, May 22

Bally’s Beach Bar, the high-energy oceanfront dining and entertainment destination at Bally’s Atlantic City, will kick off its summer season on Friday, May 22, welcoming guests with beachside dining, live entertainment and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The beach bar will debut for the season with service Friday through Sunday, expanding to daily hours beginning Friday, June 19, through Labor Day. Bally’s Beach Bar will be open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, with barbecue served from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Throughout the summer, Bally’s Beach Bar will feature live DJs, local performers and a lineup of refreshing summer cocktails and food straight from the barbeque. Guests will be able to relax and enhance their beach day with umbrella and chair rentals and first-come, first-served cabanas just steps from the sand.

Two Suspects Arrested Following Armed Carjacking

Two individuals are in custody after an armed carjacking late Monday night led to a police pursuit and a vehicle collision in Northeast Philadelphia. The incident began on May 11, 2026, at approximately 10:48 p.m., when Philadelphia police officers responded to a report of a carjacking on the 2100 block of Longshore Avenue. Investigators determined that two masked suspects approached a 32-year-old woman and a 37-year-old woman, brandishing a handgun and a knife. The offenders threatened the victims with the weapons before seizing their keys and fleeing the scene in the victims’ 2012 Jeep Cherokee.

Simmons Bill to Ensure Dialysis Patients Can Have a Support Person Present Advances in Assembly

Legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Heather Simmons that would ensure dialysis patients can have a designated support person present during treatment cleared the Assembly Health Committee on Monday.For thousands of New Jersey residents living with end-stage kidney disease, dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment that often requires hours-long sessions several times each week. These treatments can be physically exhausting and emotionally draining, leaving many patients in need of additional support.“Dialysis is not just a medical procedure; it is a demanding and deeply personal experience,” said Assemblywoman Simmons (D-Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland). “This bill was inspired by a nonverbal patient who was unable to have a support person present during treatment, despite relying on that person for comfort, communication, and advocacy. A3434 helps ensure patients can have a trusted support person by their side during dialysis when they need it most.”During testimony at yesterday’s hearing, Assemblywoman Simmons introduced Patty Bomba of Carneys Point, who shared her family’s experience advocating for her 29-year-old granddaughter living with multiple disabilities and end-stage renal disease. Bomba testified that when her granddaughter began dialysis treatment, her request to accompany her as a support person was denied. As a result, serious issues arose during treatment that she believes could have been avoided had she been allowed to be present.The legislation, known as the “New Jersey Dialysis Patient Support Person Accommodation Act,” would require dialysis centers across New Jersey to reasonably accommodate patients requesting that a support person accompany them during dialysis treatment. The bill would also require facilities to establish written policies regarding support person access, provide staff training, and comply with oversight from the Department of Health.Under the bill, dialysis centers may still establish reasonable health, safety, and infection control measures, provided those policies do not unnecessarily restrict access to a support person. Facilities that fail to comply would be subject to penalties, fines, or corrective action orders from the Department of Health.

(TRENTON) — In response to growing concerns over the role artificial intelligence (AI) may play in spreading misinformation during elections, the Assembly State and Local Government Committee today advanced bill A4729, which would require a disclosure when generative AI is used to operate chatbots providing election-related information to voters. Sponsored by Assembly members Robert Karabinchack, Ellen Park, and Avi Schnall, the legislation seeks to increase transparency for voters and help voters better identify when information is being produced by AI rather than a human.

Robert W. Ackley, 83, of Westville

Robert William Ackley, age 83, of Westville, NJ passed away in the comfort of his own home while surrounded by loving family on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Bob was born in Woodbury. He was raised and resided in Gloucester City before moving to Bellmawr in 1963 then moving to Westville in 1987 where he lived until his passing.

Bob was known for his life long affinity and work with automobiles. He was the owner of Bob’s Auto Service, he supported all types of auto racing, and he also worked as an official at Bridgeport Speedway, now known as Bridgeport Motorsports Park. When he wasn’t involved with cars, Bob enjoyed taking trips with his family to their Pocono house and attending his children’s sports and artistic endeavors. Bob was also a member of the Westville and Bellmawr Lions Club. But above all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends, and will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.

Anglers Gearing Up For Garden State Surf Fishing Classic

Anglers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in the Garden State Surf Fishing Classic, the state’s premier fishing tournament being held this Sunday, May 17, at Island Beach State Park in Ocean County.

The annual tournament brings awareness to New Jersey’s rich cultural heritage of recreational saltwater fishing and the importance of protecting the state’s marine resources.
