Rowan Earns Top NJAC Baseball Awards

Rowan’s Brayden Davis was named the 2026 Bill Dioguardi NJAC Player of the Year and Nick Watson was chosen as the Fireman of the Year as the duo were among a group of seven Profs to be honored in the conference’s annual awards. Head coach Mike Dickson and his assistants earned the Jeff Albies Coaching Staff of the Year award. 

Davis was named to the All-Conference First Team along with Joey Bogart and Mason Dorsey, with Ian Murphy earning Second-Team honors. Watson received All-NJAC Honorable Mention along with Jason Schooley and Damon Suriani. 

Dickson and the staff of Jordan Friedman, Chris Rollins, Gary Herron and Jason O’Neill guided the fifth-ranked Rowan (29-5) to its first NJAC regular-season title since 2023 with a 15-3 conference record. It marks the third NJAC coaching honor for Dickson.

Commissioners to Celebrate Fifth Annual Down and Derby Wine Festival 

 On Saturday, the Camden County Board of Commissioners and Visit South Jersey will host the fifth annual Down and Derby Wine Festival on Saturday, May 2 at Veterans Island in Cooper River Park.

The festival has become a popular tradition in Camden County, bringing together South Jersey’s best wine, live entertainment, and Kentucky Derby-inspired activities and fanfare.

Northern Liberties Spring Fest Debuts with Music, Family Fun, Hot Dog Contest

Philadelphia, PA – Northern Liberties Business Improvement District presents the inaugural Northern Liberties Spring Festival presented by Sprouts Farmers Market. The all-ages, all-day celebration will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11:00am to 5:00pm, at 3rd and Poplar, as well as inside and around Liberty Lands. The line-up will feature two stages, live bands, music and dance performances, food trucks, cold cocktails, made-in-Northern Liberties beers, hot dog eating contest, kids’ yoga, neighborhood small businesses, artists and makers, pet portraits, DIY flower bouquets, make-and-take craft station, and many other surprises. Suspect Arrested in July 2025 South Etting Street, Philadelphia, Mass Shooting

Members of the Homicide Fugitive Squad successfully apprehended Zaki Harrell at a residence on the 2200 block of Beechwood Street. Harrell was taken into custody without incident and faces a litany of charges, including Murder, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Conspiracy, and various firearms violations (VUFA).

The charges stem from a violent incident that unfolded at approximately 12:57 a.m. on the 1500 block of South Etting Street. Responding officers from the 17th District arrived to find a chaotic scene with twelve individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite medical intervention, three young men lost their lives: 23-year-old Zahir Wylie, 19-year-old Jason Reese, and 24-year-old Azir Harris. The victims were pronounced dead shortly after the shooting at local hospitals.

At the Winslow Township public meeting on April 28th, 2026, racist and demeaning remarks were directed at our Deputy Mayor. This conduct is unacceptable in Winslow. We are a diverse community, and every resident deserves respect and safety in our public spaces.

Mary Elizabeth “Marybeth” Pogodzinski, 57, of Pennsylvania

Mary Elizabeth Pogodzinski “Marybeth”, age 57, of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her residence in the loving care of her husband and children on April 27, 2026.

Born on December 31, 1968, in Somerville, New Jersey, Marybeth was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph M. Esposito and Frances Ann Esposito (née Rafferty). She was raised in Middlesex, New Jersey, and graduated from Middlesex High School in 1986. She met her husband, Chris as a secretary at Somerset Medical Center and he was in residency at the hospital.

After living a few years in Sacramento, California, Marybeth and Chris moved to Nazareth, PA in 1998. She built a life centered on family and service to her community.

Woodbury Crime Blotter 3/19/2026 – 3/24/2026

On 3/19, a Gloucester City resident was charged with obstruction, eluding, improper behavior, littering, and obstructing public streets. The court date is pending.

On 3/19, a resident of Logan Township was charged with contempt of court and harassment for violating a final restraining order. A court date is pending.

On 3/20, officers were dispatched to CVS due to a report of shoplifting. Employees provided a description of the female suspect and informed the officers that she had been in the store for two hours before leaving with two bags of merchandise valued at $222.00. Officers were able to locate the woman inside the McDonald’s restaurant, where the stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to CVS. The suspect, a resident of Pledget Street in Salem, NJ, was charged accordingly. A court date is pending.
