Rowan Wins Gotham Regional; Super Regionals May 22-23

Brayden Davis hit his second grand slam in as many days to push #5 Rowan past host Southern Maine, 13-8, and give the Profs the NCAA Baseball Gorham Regional championship. Rowan will now move on to the NCAA Super Regionals and will host Randolph-Macon next weekend, May 22-23, in Glassboro.

It marks the fifth NCAA Regional Championship in the last six years for Rowan and the second consecutive.

Davis went 2-for-4 with six RBI with Damon Suriani and Mason Dorsey getting three hits each. Christian Rice (6-0) compiled a career-high 10 strikeouts in 5.1 innings to earn the victory. Charlie Russell, Dane Samartino, Jack Norton and Evan Brasberger all saw action out of the bullpen while Davis pitched for the first time this season and got the final three outs before the Profs’ celebrated.

Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Adds New Detectives

Welcome to the team! The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has hired three new detectives, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.

On Monday, May 11, 2026, Detective Luke Barron, Detective Ryan Parry, and Detective Shianne Watson were sworn in by Prosecutor MacAulay before First Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Chatten, Chief of Detectives Robert Ferris, Deputy Chief of Detectives Randall MacNair, and Chief of Staff Michael Mangold.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Substitute Teacher Hakeem Jeffries

Hello,

After a brutal stretch of humiliating defeats, so-called ‘Leader’ Hakeem Jeffries is getting hit from every direction, including from his own candidates.

Just look at Rebecca Bennett and New Jersey Democrats in NJ-07 flat-out refusing to back Jeffries when asked during last night’s debate.

This comes after his embarrassing loss in Virginia, being outraised by Republicans on every level, and Democrat candidates, party leaders, and progressive activists are speaking out against the DCCC for meddling in their primaries.

It’s no surprise Jeffries showed up to yesterday’s press conference angry, rattled, and completely off the rails.

General Assembly Advances ‘Patient and Provider Protection Act’

Assemblyman Roy Freiman’s ongoing efforts to address rising prescription costs took a big step forward today with the Assembly passage of the “Patient and Provider Protection Act” (A1502). The legislation aims to bring transparency and accountability to pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), the middlemen who often drive up costs for patients and families. The “Patient and Provider Protection Act” would regulate PBMs and help make prescription drugs more affordable for New Jersey families.

“This bill is about putting patients first and making prescription drugs more affordable for New Jersey families,” said Assemblyman Freiman (D-Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset). “PBMs need to be held accountable by providing a fair process for independent pharmacies to access medication and ensuring patients don’t have to jump through hoops to find the most affordable option for their prescriptions. This legislation would ensure that no New Jerseyan’s access to medication is hindered by contracts that place profits ahead of people.”

Arrest Made in March 2025 Fatal Double Shooting

The Philadelphia Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal double shooting that occurred last year in the city’s 25th District.

On Monday, May 18, 2026, 25th District officers apprehended 21-year-old Luis Antonio Bonet. Investigators with the Homicide Unit had previously identified Bonet as the suspect in the March 2025 incident. He is currently being held at the Homicide Unit, where formal charges against him are pending.

DNREC Releases 2026-2030 Delaware Wetland Program Plan

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has released a five-year Delaware Wetland Program Plan as a guide for identifying wetland research, education, management and conservation needs within the state. Wetland program plans are voluntarily developed and implemented by state agencies and Native American tribes for articulating what they aim to accomplish with wetland programs over time.

How Does the Probate Process Work?

Most Americans know they need an estate plan but the majority of them haven’t made one. In fact, according to a survey conducted by Trust & Will in 2025, will ownership dropped 5 points, from 31% in 2025 to 26% in 2026.

Several people who go through probate are not prepared for it. A 2024 study by Trust & Will found that the average probate process takes 20 months nationally, yet only 2% of Americans correctly estimated that timeline. More than half of those surveyed were unaware of the expenses, while another group thought the process would be easy. It is rarely both of those things.

Advisory: Air Quality Alert until 12:00AM Thursday

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange Air Quality alert for Wednesday for Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Ocean, Gloucester, Burlington, Ocean and Salem Counties. A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Teenager Hospitalized in Critical Condition Following Hit-and-Run Crash

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is investigating a hit-and-run collision that left a teenager in critical condition on Monday afternoon in the city’s 2nd District.

On May 18, 2026, at approximately 2:59 p.m., police responded to a report of an auto-versus-pedestrian crash near the intersection of Cottman Avenue and Horrocks Street. A preliminary investigation revealed that a silver 2011 Jeep Liberty was traveling on Cottman Avenue when it struck a 16-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing at Horrocks Street.
