Rowan earned its second NCAA National Champion

Damitrius Hester won the javelin with a new #2 Division III all-time mark of 74.94 meters to break his own school record giving the men’s team its second-straight champion of the three-day meet as David Brown captured the high jump crown on Friday. Hester, who hit the new record on his final throw, becomes the 44th national champion in team history and sixth in the javelin event.

The men’s team (85 points), who were looking for a sweep of Division III Track & Field this season after securing the NCAA Indoor Championship back in March, was the national runner-up to the host Eagles (106 points). The second-place result gives the Profs its best finish at the outdoor championships. UW-La Crosse claimed both men’s and women’s national team championships over the three-day meet.

Four new school records fell on the men’s side in the event finals on Saturday as well:

  • The 4×100 relay of Joudou Diawara, Evan Corcoran, Elijah Hendricks, and Rajahn Dixon clocked in at 39.56 for a new program time and the new #4 Division III all-time result as the foursome placed second
  • Marquis Taylor, Jason Agyemang, Teddy Wilson, and Dallas Hohney turned in a new school record (3:08.24) in the 4×400 relay in a third-place finish. Both relays earn All-American status
  • Dixon was runner-up in the 200 meters with a new record of 20.76, while Hendricks was fourth (20.86), and Corcoran (21.31) in eighth
  • Corcoran put his name in the Rowan record books with program-best time of 10.30 in the 100 meters to finish third
  • Kwaku Nkrumah (13.76) and Agyemang (14.21) finished second and sixth respectively in the 110 meter hurdles
  • Samuel Agbessi was fifth (52.51) in the 400 meter hurdles
  • Honey placed fourth in the 800 meters (1:49.68)
  • Joshua Justin topped out at 14.52 meters in the triple jump to place 14th

The women’s team was featured in two events:

  • Ava Reardon scored a second-team All-American honor with a 10th place finish in the javelin (42.33)
  • Gabriella Pagano ran her way to a second-team All-America in the 5000 meters, where she was 16th (17:00.50)
