Javier Serrano Selected for Internship Program

Science Park High School alumnus Javier Serrano has been selected for the prestigious Television Academy Foundation Internship program. He is one of 40 students chosen by Television Academy members from across the country for the 2026 Summer Internship program. The Foundation offers paid internships at top Hollywood studios and production companies annually to college students nationwide.

Serrano is a 2026 graduate of Chapman University in Orange, California, who majored in public relations, advertising and entertainment marketing. He will be a publicity intern this summer at Organic Publicity, an award-winning global communications agency for entertainment in Los Angeles, through the Foundation’s program.

“It is an honor to be selected for this internship by the very members of the Television Academy who recognize excellence through the Emmy Awards,” said Serrano. “I appreciate the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry and am inspired by their commitment to uplifting new voices and showcasing talent. Knowing that I have the support of these professionals motivates me to increase accessibility in entertainment and to inspire others from similar backgrounds to pursue their place in this industry.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Television Academy’s robust network of industry leaders and creatives and to use this opportunity for professional development and networking,” said Serrano. “Specifically for public relations and publicity, I am excited to learn more about the behind-the-scenes world of global film and series publicity campaigns, including working on press junkets and red carpet events, pitching research, and participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.

“As a first-generation college student raised in the inner city, I know firsthand the challenges posed by harmful stereotypes, financial barriers and limited access to resources,” continued Serrano. “With just two suitcases and big dreams, I traveled across the country to pursue my education at a private university in Southern California. In my first semester I found myself on the verge of dropping out and returning home, but I was fortunate to meet people who gave me the confidence and support I needed to persevere. Reflecting on this journey, I feel proud of the personal growth I have achieved while navigating unfamiliar environments and grappling with financial insecurity.

“I aspire to lead the marketing or communications department of a major entertainment studio or agency, aligning high-level business goals with a human-centered storytelling approach that resonates with global audiences,” said Serrano.

Originally from Newark, New Jersey, Serrano attended Science Park High School in Newark.
