Legend says famed English pirate Blackbeard frequented Philadelphia and plundered many Colonial port cities, hence the decision to construct a proper fort.

Pirate Day at Fort Mifflin honors that Golden Age of Piracy with mischief and merriment, including a pirate’s treasure hunt (duh!), sea shanty singalongs and weapon demos on historic Mud Island. Also, look for a very special performance from the Sea Dogs, a pirate-themed band and privateer re-enactment group.

Know before you go: Dress up! This is a family-friendly event and kids are encouraged to wear their best baggy breeches.

Where: Fort Mifflin, 6400 Hog Island Road, Philadelphia, PA
