Small Businesses Can Get Up to $15,000 for Export Activities—Deadline September 1
New Jersey small businesses with 10% or less of total sales going to international buyers can apply for federal STEP grants covering up to $15,000 in export-related expenses. The reimbursement program covers trade show participation, export training, international marketing, and trade missions.
All business types qualify if they meet SBA small business size standards. Applications are reviewed first-come, first-served until September 1 or when funds are exhausted. Approximately 80 businesses will be funded.
Businesses that received less than $50,000 in total previous STEP funding remain eligible. All activities must be completed by September 29, 2027.

Nonprofits Can Apply for Up to $5M in Climate Restoration Grants
New Jersey nonprofits can receive between $250,000 and $5 million to create, restore, and enhance coastal wetlands, forests, and urban tree canopies. The Natural Climate Solutions Grant Program funds projects that sequester carbon and protect communities from climate impacts through living shorelines, tidal wetland restoration, forest regeneration, and urban tree planting. Projects span three to five years.
Applications are open on a rolling basis until August 4, 2027. Grant recipients will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis.

Stay in Compliance with Labor Laws
All New Jersey employers are required to:
- Pay their employees at least the State minimum wage, which increased to $15.92 for most employees on January 1, 2026
- Pay their employees an overtime rate of 1.5 times their regular pay rate when they work over 40 hours in a workweek
- Classify workers as employees appropriately
- Register in the online system for working papers when hiring a minor under age 18
- Protect working minors by adhering to all State child labor laws
- Allow all their employees to earn and use sick leave to care for themselves or a loved one
- Display all required posters in the workplace where employees can see them
