
Camden County, NJ – A former paramedic has been sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Jeremy Algarin, 31, of Berlin Borough received the sentence in Superior Court on October 2, 2026. Additionally, the defendant must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be subject to lifetime parole supervision.
Algarin previously pled guilty to one count of 2nd- degree Distribution of CSAM on June 22, 2026. He was charged on August 6, 2025, after a cyber tip led detectives to a Discord account used to possess and distribute CSAM. During the investigation, detectives identified Algarin as the user of the account. Additionally, a forensic search of Algarin’s cell phone revealed CSAM. Detectives ultimately located more than 1,000 images and videos of CSAM on various electronic devices.
Algarin was arrested in Berlin Borough on August 6, 2025, and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility. At the time of his arrest, Algarin was employed as a paramedic and emergency medical technician (EMT). His paramedic/EMT license has since been revoked by the State of New Jersey. The State was represented by Section Chief Sonja Furlow of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit. The investigation was conducted by Detective James Cavanaugh of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.
