39th District Fatal Shooting Investigation
The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 4:20 AM. Officers from the 39th District responded to the 2900 block of West Clementine Street following radio calls reporting a person with a gun and gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male victim lying on the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, left leg, right arm, and right hip. Police transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 4:40 AM. No arrests have been made, and no motive has been established at this time. The investigation remains actively ongoing with the Homicide Unit.
39th District Non-Fatal Shooting Investigation
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 1:26 AM, 39th District officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 3300 block of North Smedley Street. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim on the street suffering from a single gunshot wound to her upper left shoulder. Responding officers transported her to Temple University Hospital’s Emergency Room, where she is currently listed in stable condition. Preliminary investigation reveals that the shooting stemmed from an argument involving an individual who was acting erratically on the street. According to the victim, the individual entered a silver sedan, retrieved a black firearm, and fired one shot, striking her in the shoulder. The victim noted that the individual possibly resides on the block. The investigation is active and ongoing.
35th District Accidental Shooting Investigation
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 11:13 PM, 35th District officers received a call reporting a female shot in the arm on the 200 block of West Spencer Street, who was being transported to the hospital via private vehicle. Upon arrival at Albert Einstein Medical Center, the 20-year-old female victim was admitted to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to her right arm and was placed in stable condition. Preliminary findings indicate the incident was accidental, occurring when a 22-year-old male, he son of the victim’s father’s girlfriend, gwas handling a firearm when it discharged. The male possesses a valid permit to carry, and the firearm was surrendered to police. He faces charges of Recklessly Endangering Another Person (REAP) and Simple Assault. The investigation is actively ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group.
