Visiting the Coast Won\’t Cost You at Coast Day in Phila.

End your summer with a splash at Pennsylvania Coast Day, a free celebration on Sunday, September 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Penn\’s Landing.

This event will feature family-oriented entertainment and hands-on activities offered by many of the region\’s hardest-working environmental groups. Music, prizes, and Ride the Ducks boat rides will be available free of charge to hundreds of visitors as they explore the sensitive coastline in their own backyard (supplies limited). That\’s right, Philadelphia has a coast! See for yourself at this festival sponsored by the Pennsylvania DEP\’s Coastal Resources Management Program, Philadelphia Water Department, and others.

Once families have made their way through the festival, as well as the Independence Seaport Museum next door (special $5 admission), a free afternoon shuttle will be on hand to take them to the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center. Beginning at noon, guests can also enjoy a free kayaking excursion inside Penn\’s Landing Marina thanks to the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation. Altogether, these attractions make for a full day of marine-themed family fun.
