Editor\’s Note: Each Sunday morning we will post a weekly comic strip provided by cartoonist Dave Wolfe, age 14. Dave has been drawing since he was 5 years old, he knew he wanted to be a cartoonist at the age of 8. He’s been distributing his comics in school since 3rd grade.

HARRISBURG, PN—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that the former Director of Marketing and Merchandising for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PA-LCB) pled guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Sylvia H. Rambo to a scheme to defraud the state, its citizens and the PA-LCB of their right to his honest services as a public official through bribes, kick-backs and concealing information.

Over the past month Lindenwold residents have been experiencing an increase in car burglaries. In almost all of the cases thieves have been targeting unlocked vehicles. Almost all of the thefts have occurred during the overnight hours on residential side streets in the Garden Lake Section as well as the neighborhoods along East Atlantic Avenue. Most of these thefts could have been prevented if vehicle owners had remembered to lock their car doors.

Janette M. Szovati (nee Bauman), on September 19, 2015, of Sicklerville. Age 50. Beloved wife of Charles Szovati for 27 years. Devoted mother of Kenneth and Daniel Szovati. Loving daughter of Thomas Bauman and Nancy Driehorst (nee Moore). Dear sister of Kathleen Costello (Kevin), JoAnn Williams, and Patricia Salvatore (Donald). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 6 to 7:30pm Thursday evening at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Memorial Service 7:30pm at the Funeral Home. Interment private at the request of the family.

Beloved son of Charlotte Durr (nee Malloy) and Charles D. Durr, Sr. Loving brother of Steven and Daniel Durr. Cherished nephew of Patricia Lanzilotta and Michael Malloy. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 26^th at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church: 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Interment will be private.

Delegates from across the country convene to collaborate, take action on opioid epidemic

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell today kicked off a two-day intensive convening of representatives from all 50 states and Washington, DC focused on preventing opioid overdose and opioid use disorder. During her remarks, the secretary announced that HHS will move to expand access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) by revising the regulations related to the prescribing of buprenorphine to treat opioid dependence. She also announced $1.8 million in awards to rural communities to expand access to naloxone – a drug that reverses an opioid overdose.
