As America celebrates 250 years of independence, the New Jersey Hall of Fame (NJHOF) announces its next class of Jersey legends whose accomplishments have shaped the world as we know it.The list of 13 inductees includes Grammy award-winning recording artist SZA, the 50th Governor of New Jersey Christine Todd Whitman, and former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor.
“The Class of 2026 showcases the diverse talent, resilience, and spirit of achievement that define the great state of New Jersey,” said NJHOF Chairman Jon F. Hanson. “Each inductee, through their creativity, leadership, and pursuit of excellence, has made impactful contributions that continue to inspire future generations.”
The inductees will be honored at the 18th Annual NJHOF Induction Ceremony on September 24, 2026, hosted by Danny DeVito at the recently-completed Dream Live Performing Arts Center at American Dream. General Admission ticket sales for the event will be announced at a later date.

University of Tampa has honored students who were named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2026 semester. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the dean’s list.

Jefferson Health recently honored 17 graduates of the Project SEARCH Class of 2026 at ceremonies held across its New Jersey hospitals in Cherry Hill, Stratford and Washington Township.
The graduates completed a yearlong internship experience through Project SEARCH, an international transition-to-work program that helps young adults with developmental disabilities prepare for competitive employment through immersive workplace training.

Overnight lane and ramp closures are scheduled on Al-Jo’s Curve, Route 42 northbound, I-295 northbound and I-76 eastbound tonight and tomorrow night as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County. The lane and ramp closures, as well as traffic slowdowns, are necessary to install structural steel. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays when traveling through the work zones.
I-295 southbound to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound (Al-Jo’s Curve) Ramp Closure
Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 10 until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, July 11, the I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound, also known as Al-Jo’s Curve, is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The right lane on I-295 southbound also will be closed just after Exit 28/Route 168, and the right lane on I-76 eastbound is scheduled to be closed after Exit 1B through Exit 1A. All motorists traveling on I-295 southbound will be directed to stay left onto Exit 26. The closures are necessary for retaining wall construction. The following detour will be in place:

Philadelphia Zoo is thrilled to share that its new resident bears are now exploring the Zoo’s first Zoo360 trail for bears and spending time in a brand-new habitat built as a part of Francis J. Carey Bear Country. Gould & Potter Crossing, 60 feet long and 16 feet in the air, is the latest in the expansion of the Zoo360 trails at Philadelphia Zoo that began in 2011 and the first one the Zoo’s resident bears can use. Bhalu, Carey Bear Country is a $25 million state-of-the-art facility built with the highest standards of animal care in mind, making it one of the best in the country for vulnerable bears. Not only does Carey Bear Country enhance the Zoo’s animal care program, it creates a dynamic, memorable and educational experience for guests of all ages and backgrounds, and supports the Zoo’s conservation programs to protect these species in zoos and in the wild. Heat-related deaths in New Jersey appear to have shot up roughly five-fold over last summer following a holiday weekend with record-high temperatures, prompting advocates to urge the state to do more to protect vulnerable residents.

Timothy “Tim” Durkin Brennan, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, in Voorhees Township, NJ. Born in Camden, NJ to the late Thomas Brennan and Gladys Brennan (née Durkin), Tim was a longtime resident of Stratford, NJ.
A proud graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School (Class of 1965), Tim went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University. He honorably served his country as a veteran of the Air National Guard. Tim spent his professional career working as an Auditor for the State of New Jersey’s Division of Taxation as well as a Tax Preparation Accountant alongside his wife, Charlene, out of their home in Stratford.
Outside of his professional life, Tim was a man of diverse interests. He loved playing racquetball, spending time at the shore and on the beach, and he had a passion for treasure hunting with his metal detector. He was an avid gardener who took pride in growing tomatoes and green beans, and he spent many joyful hours coaching and cheering at his kids’ sporting events.
Tim shared 56 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Charlene E. Brennan (née Kelley). He was a devoted father to his sons, Mike Brennan (Michele) and Jon Brennan (Jeannine). He was also the cherished Pop-Pop of Rachel, Emily, Ava, and Aidan Brennan. Tim was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Brennan and Gladys Brennan (née Durkin), and his sister, Catherine Brennan, who passed away in 2017.

A Philadelphia man was arrested and charged following a shooting in Pennsauken last week, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Pennsauken Police Chief Phil Olivo.
Kalief Armstrong, 38, is charged with 1st-degree Attempted Murder, 2nd-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and 2nd-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons. He is also charged with 3rd-degree Aggravated Assault, 3rd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and 4th-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 11:47 p.m., officers from the Pennsauken Police Department were notified that a gunshot victim – identified as a 27-year-old male – arrived in a private vehicle at Cooper University Hospital. The victim was reported to be in critical, but stable condition.
During the investigation, detectives learned the shooting occurred at approximately 11:16 p.m. on the 8900 block of Haddonfield Road in Pennsauken. Armstrong was ultimately determined to be the individual responsible for shooting the victim. Detectives also determined that Armstrong had assaulted the victim with a baseball bat during a physical altercation leading up to the shooting.
