Commissioners to Host Homeless Services and Resource Fair

Today, January 28, the Board of Commissioners will be hosting a homeless services and resource fair to provide free necessary services to those in need at 10 a.m. at Cathedral Kitchen, 1514 Federal Street, Camden. This fair will feature on–site showers and haircuts, breakfast and lunch, and access to several organizations to help with employment and housing, among other things.

“Access to essential services and support on their journey to stability can make a life-changing difference for our residents who are experiencing homelessness,” said Commissioner Jennifer Cooley Fleisher, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services. “The Board of Commissioners are committed to ending homelessness in Camden County by 2030, and resource fairs such as this help us move closer towards that reality.”

Wanted: Suspect for Aggravated Assault in the 35th District

The PPD Northwest Detective Division is attempting to identify the individual responsible for this aggravated assault/threat with a gun.

On January 21, 2026 at 1:54pm at the Luke Oil gas station, located at 4421 N. Broad St, a black male offender pointed a gun at the employee after a verbal dispute. The complainant reported to police the offender came into his store and got into a verbal dispute with another customer and with store employees. The offender stated he was going to come back with a gun. The offender did leave and came back 15 minutes later but the customer was gone. The offender then came back into the gas station and pointed a gun and threatened the complainant. The offender left and walked east bound on Wingohocking.

Suspect Description: Black male, 40-50 years old, bald with a medium build. Wearing gray hoodie and blue sweat pants.

Why the Federal Reserve Cuts Rates

American citizenship is a privilege that carries both rights and responsibilities. The naturalization process is built on good faith, on the understanding that applicants are truthful, law-abiding, and committed to the values and security of the United States. When that process is undermined by fraud or the commission of aggravated felonies shortly after naturalization, it erodes public trust and weakens the integrity of our immigration system.

Students Named to Dean’s List at University of Maryland Global Campus

More than 18,700 University of Maryland Global Campus students were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2025 term. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

Recreational Cannabis Sellers Willing to Sell to “Drunk” Customers

Newswise — Dispensaries in one of the first US states to legalize recreational cannabis sales continue to disregard a law aimed at reducing the risk of consuming alcohol and cannabis simultaneously. Polysubstance use can lead to greater impairment and riskier behaviors than using either substance alone. Driving can be impaired even at low doses of both substances; this appears to have increased following the legalization of cannabis in many states. Current DUI laws do not adequately address polysubstance-intoxicated driving. It may be more effective to proscribe cannabis sales to people who appear intoxicated by alcohol, much as drinking establishments cut off sales to customers who seem alcohol-impaired. For the study in Alcohol: Clinical & Experimental Research, investigators assessed compliance at cannabis dispensaries in Oregon, a state that has such a law.

NJBS Hosts Blood Drive in Honor of Local Physician and Blood Recipient

NJBS recently declared a blood emergency, as blood donations have dropped nearly 40% below what is needed to meet local hospital demand

RED BANK, NJ – New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) will host a blood drive on Thursday, January 29th from 8:00am to 2:00pm at Life Time in Red Bank. The blood drive will be held in honor of Dr. Matthew Chiarello, a local physician, father, Life Time member and blood recipient.

Dr. Chiarello was unexpectedly diagnosed with bone marrow failure early last year and relies on blood transfusions as he awaits a life-saving transplant. This blood drive is being held to celebrate his strength, resilience, and the opportunity to enter 2026 in good health, which was made possible by the generosity of blood donors.
