35-Year-Old Male Arrested Following Multi-Vehicle Collision

Hit-and-Run Involving Police Vehicle Update

PHILADELPHIA — A 35-year-old male is in custody following a series of collisions early Monday morning that left one person injured and a building with significant structural damage. At approximately 3:35 AM on May 4, 2026, 18th District Officers observed a blue 2016 Tesla Model X driving on the sidewalk in front of 4900 Spruce Street. After the officers positioned their patrol vehicle to block the vehicle, the driver continued westward on the sidewalk, striking the driver’s side of the police car.

The offender refused several commands to park and exit the vehicle, instead driving away northbound on 50th Street. A short time later, the Tesla collided with a white 2014 Chevrolet Impala at the intersection of 50th and Walnut Streets. The force of the impact sent the Tesla into a building at 5001 Walnut Street, causing major damage to the property. Following the crash, the male fled the scene on foot.

Michael Sendler, 58, of Gloucester City

Michael William Sendler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on May 3rd 2026 at the age of 58.

Mike was a beloved husband of Lisa Sendler, devoted father of Michael, Brandon, and Danielle. Beloved son-in-law of Nick Porro and loving grandfather of Blake and Brody.

Mike was the son of late Anne Sharer (Weidennayar), Robert Sendler and raised by Bud Sharer. Brother of Robert Sendler, Cathy Sendler, and Linda McCleaf.

Mike was born in Atlantic City later relocated to Gloucester City where he graduated from Gloucester High. He met his wife at Dominic’s tavern in Bellmawr, got married, and started a family.

New Cosmetology Clinic Grand Opening at CCC

New Cosmetology Clinic opens today, March 5, at 11 a.m. at Camden County College-Camden City Campus, College Hall, 200 North Broadway, Camden.

The CCC Cosmetology Clinic offers students hands-on training to prepare them for careers in the beauty industry. The space functions as a working salon, allowing students to develop their skills in cosmetology, skin care, and nail technology. Additionally, the clinic serves as a resource for the Camden County community, offering affordable services that help students gain real-world experience.

“We are excited to celebrate the opening of our Cosmetology Clinic,” said Dr. Lovell Pugh-Bassett, President.  “The clinic reflects our commitment to hands-on learning and community service. We see great potential for it to support both student growth and to make an impact on the Camden County community.”

Camden County is encouraging residents to get ready for the 2026 Primary Election and make a plan to have their voices heard. One of the easiest ways to vote is by applying for Vote By Mail. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 26th, so now is a great time to get it done and check it off your to-do list. Rowan Softball Forces Game 3 After Splitting with TCNJ in NJAC Finals

Rowan forced a winner-take-all game three of the 2026 New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball Championship series on Saturday against TCNJ, taking game two in a 2-1 win in 10 innings. The Profs fell in the day’s opener, 3-2, in eight innings.

The two teams, who have no shortage of extra-inning dramatics in the postseason, will meet tomorrow in Glassboro at 1 p.m. in the third and deciding game of the tournament final with the league’s automatic bid to the Division III Tournament at stake. In a playoff matchup in 2024, Rowan outlasted the Lions in remarkable 20 innings, 2-1.

Game one – TCNJ 3, Rowan 2 (8 innings)
The Lions scored a run in the seventh and the eventual go-ahead run in the eighth to take the day’s first contest.

Amanda M. Metzinger, 40, of Westville

Amanda M. Metzinger, age 40, of Westville passed away in the comfort of her own home after a strong and valiant fight against cancer. Surrounded and cared for by her loving family on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Amanda was born in Camden and had resided in Audubon before moving to Westville. Amanda was a dedicated Registered Nurse and worked at the Voorhees Pediatric Facility in Voorhees Twp. while simultaneously pursuing her Master’s degree. She loved hosting events, taking trips with her family and friends and going to concerts and sporting events. Amanda was also a big Harry Potter fan, relished in taking trips to Universal Studios, and loved all animals. But most of all, Amanda was a huge supporter of her sons and brothers and made it a point to attend as many of their sporting events and activities as she could. She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.
