Open for the Season: Liberty Beer Garden

Now open (Wednesdays through Sundays)

Drink in Philly’s rich history with the return of this Independence Mall beer garden. Hosted right next to the Independence Visitor Center — within sight of the National Constitution Center and the Liberty Bell — the breezy beer garden features picnic tables, cozy hammocks, and a bevy of bites and drinks.

On the menu: eats like loaded hot dogs, cheesesteaks, flatbread pizzas and giant Philly pretzels (!), plus a variety of craft beer, wine and cocktails. The beer garden is free to enter, with weekday happy hours from 4 to 6 p.m.

EPA Recognizes Excellence and Innovation in New York and New Jersey Water Infrastructure Projects

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Assistant Administrator for Water Jessica Kramer helped recognize 48 water infrastructure projects for excellence and innovation, including projects in New York and New Jersey. These projects, financed in part by State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, demonstrate the importance of water infrastructure for supporting healthy Americans and laying a foundation for economic prosperity.

Eric Brennan Leaves Rowan for Air Force Academy Position

Rowan University’s head men’s basketball coach Eric Brennan, Ed.D., has accepted the position of assistant men’s basketball coach at the Air Force Academy, it was announced by Rowan director of athletics Shawn Tucker. A national search for the Profs’ next head coach will begin immediately with the position to be posted by April 13th. 

The move reunites Brennan with former Rowan head coach Joe Crispin (2016-23), who was recently named the head coach at Air Force. Brennan served as an assistant coach on Crispin’s staff with the Profs from 2018 to 2023.

Blackwood Kiwanis Little League Parade 4/11/26 8 AM to 930 AM

On Saturday , April 11, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, the Blackwood Kiwanis Little League Parade will take place along the Blackwood Railroad Trail.

Although most of the parade route will stay off main roads, traffic delays are still expected on Glenn Ave, Morris Ave, Marshall Ave, and W. Railroad Ave during this time.

GTPD Officers will be on scene to assist parade participants, residents, and motorists. Please use caution in the area.

Newark Inspection Station to Permanently Close April 11

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission’s (NJMVC) Newark Inspection Station, located at 228 Frelinghuysen Ave., will be closing permanently on Saturday, April 11, 2026, to enable the construction of a brand-new, expanded, and modernized Newark Agency.

BofA Invites Youth to Get Outside and ‘Golf with Us’ in 2026

Get ready for a summer of affordable, family fun. Bank of America is making golf accessible for young players in Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey with the return of ‘Golf with Us.’ Building on a strong first year, Bank of America has teamed up with Youth on Course to again offer free, one-year memberships to Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey kids (ages 6-18).

DNREC to Assess Wastewater Infrastructure in Manufactured Home Communities

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has begun a statewide assessment of wastewater and drinking water infrastructure conditions in Delaware’s manufactured home communities (MHCs). Many of them are located in underserved communities and some systems are believed to be outdated, poorly maintained or in various stages of disrepair.

ICYMI: Van Drew Secures $99M for South Jersey Beach Replenishment

Congressman Van Drew announced that South Jersey will receive $99 million in federal funding from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to replenish and protect key beaches in the region. This is the biggest investment in New Jersey beach projects in a year without a severe coastal storm.

American Lung Association to Release NJ Air Pollution Report

On Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, the American Lung Association in New Jersey will release the 27th annual “State of the Air” report, which tracks exposure to unhealthy ozone and particle pollution. The report serves as a “report card,” ranking air quality in metro areas and grading counties across the state. Additionally, the report ranks the most polluted and cleanest cities across the country.

Trout Season Opens April 11 with Simplified Rules

Anglers will get to enjoy 19 extra days of fishing, more than 20 additional ponds into which to drop their lines, and simplified regulations to follow when the much-anticipated trout season opens at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 11 in waterways across New Jersey. This year’s spring season will be highlighted by the stocking of more than 180,000 rainbow trout and larger broodstock, as well as 20,000 brown trout provided by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.
