The Ritz Theatre Company Hosts Full Circle Sounds

This Black History Month, the Ritz Theatre Company will host Full Circle Sounds, an afternoon of live music, reflection, and community care on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Presented by the Haddon Township Equity Initiative (HTEI) and Ida’s Bookshop, with Shop Haddon proudly serving as a co-sponsor, the event invites the community to come together through the power of sound, storytelling, and shared experience.

Rooted in the understanding that music has long been a source of power, healing, and collective memory in the Black community, Full Circle Sounds creates space to slow down, tune in, and reflect on how sound connects us across time – holding joy and grief, protest and praise – while fostering belonging and connection.

The afternoon will be hosted by Seraiah Nicole and feature live performances by Leah Wrenne, Dise, Rae Dianz, Matte, Malik Henry, and Maya Belardo.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Free tickets are available for community members in need to ensure cost is not a barrier to participation.

Following a successful debut last season, Dover Motor Speedway and Visit Delaware have partnered again to bring a beach-inspired Fan Zone experience to The Monster Mile with the return of MILES BEACH, presented by Visit Delaware, during NASCAR All-Star Weekend, May 15–17.

MILES BEACH, presented by Visit Delaware, will again take over more than an acre of Dover’s famed Fan Zone, offering dozens of beach-themed, family-friendly attractions, including many FREE options, for fans to enjoy throughout All-Star Weekend.

New Jersey Department of Corrections Welcomes Training Academy Graduates

On Tuesday, February 10, the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) welcomed Class 259 – 157 graduates of the Department’s Training Academy – into the Department’s ranks of Correctional Police Officers, the largest class since 2017. The graduation ceremony was held at Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton, where family and friends of the graduates were invited to attend the special event designed to honor Class 259’s hard work and accomplishments, as they begin their new careers at NJDOC.

“I am thrilled to congratulate this new cohort of correctional police officers on their graduation, and I wish them well as they enter the next stage of their careers,” said Governor Mikie Sherrill. “When I served as the Reentry Coordinator at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, I saw just how critical a role our correctional police officers play in the rehabilitation process. I commend these men and women for their dedication to creating a safe, stable environment for incarcerated individuals to pursue reentry.” “It is both a privilege and honor to welcome these exemplary officers of Class 259 to the New Jersey Department of Corrections,” said Commissioner Victoria L. THE MARIE RADER SERIES PRESENTS PHILLY POPS”BLOCKBUSTERS IN THE ‘BURBS” CONCERT

THE NEW PHILLY POPS SOUTH JERSEY DEBUT AT ROWAN UNIVERSITY

CONDUCTED BY MUSIC DIRECTOR CHRIS DRAGON

The Marie Rader Series is proud to present the South Jersey debut of the new Philly Pops at Rowan University. On Saturday, March 14, at 3 p.m,. the Pops will present “Blockbusters in the Burbs” at Rowan’s Pfleeger Concert Hall, introducing audiences in South Jersey to the orchestra. For concert tickets and more information, visit go.rowan.edu/phillypops.

Conducted by Music Director Christopher Dragon, the orchestra will perform some of the most beloved movie scores, including features by the orchestra’s Matt Gallagher (The Incredibles), Michael Ludwig (Schindler’s List), and Ron Kerber (Catch Me if You Can). The concert will be offered in a ‘Relaxed Performance’ format to provide a sensory-friendly experience for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Pops Bassist Douglass Mapp also serves as Professor of Jazz Studies within Rowan University’s Department of Music. He will be performing with the orchestra on the 14th, putting the active performance side of his career on direct display for his students who may not have the opportunity to see his Philadelphia performances.

Following the performance, Pops’ musicians will welcome the audience in the lobby. And, as with all Marie Rader Series engagements, the Rowan campus community will enjoy artist-led opportunities beyond the stage, with Music Director Chris Dragon hosting a conducting masterclass for students, as well as an invited dress rehearsal in the hall for students and board members

“We are honored to serve an important role with the Philly Pops,” says Marie Rader Series Artistic Director Debbie Shapiro. “Not only will this celebrate the Pops’ and Chris Dragon’s Rowan debut, but we love to emphasize Philadelphia’s world-class arts organizations, inspire our students, and bring audiences from all over the region together in a very accessible way.”

For Matt Koveal, Executive Director of the Pops, this new collaboration expands the reach of their music to New Jersey. “We’re grateful to Rowan University for inviting us to perform in South Jersey,” he says. “A large part of our mission is to bring our brand of popular music into new communities and connect with the South Jersey community. Being on Rowan University’s campus, surrounded by that energy, is a great way to make this pursuit a reality.”

Australian conductor Christopher Dragon is the newly appointed Music Director of the Philly Pops. Before moving to the United States in 2015, Dragon held the inaugural position of Assistant Conductor with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, where he was mentored by Asher Fisch. Dragon has a versatile portfolio ranging from live-to-picture performances, including Nightmare Before Christmas, Toy Story, and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and a wide variety of collaborations with artists such as The Wu-Tang Clan, Cynthia Erivo, and Joshua Bell. He is known for his charisma and high energy, consistently delivering unforgettable performances.

“The masterclass is an opportunity for students to cultivate a deep love and understanding of the unique elements of conducting a pops’ ensemble.” Dragon says. “I look forward to sharing my experiences with the students and performing at Rowan University.”

Artist Recreates Hallowed Freedom Walks

Ken Johnston, the Walking Artist, started walking to preserve our Civil Rights in response to the erosion of the gains made in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. Marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King in 2018, he walked in partnership with the National Civil Rights Museum.

He was part of a group that walked from Cape May to Burlington County in 2022, stopping at the Peter Mott House along the way.

He set out on his latest trek from Michigan into Canada in the winter to try to recreate the experience of freedom seekers who headed north in harsh weather.

The bonus of his trip was meeting descendants of those who made it to and settled in Canada.

He made the point that arrival in Canada was the beginning of the story not the end. He chronicles his experiences online at www.ourwalktofreedom.com
