Former Supt. Receives 6 Figure Deal from Manchester Twp. School

MANCHESTER, NJ (July 13, 2026)(CNBNews)— Former Manchester Township Schools Superintendent John Berenato has received a six‑figure settlement in connection with his lawsuit over his 2023 firing.

He was awarded $265,000 by the district’s insurance carrier under a settlement approved at the June 16, 2026, Manchester Township Board of Education meeting, according to open‑government advocate John Paff of Transparency NJ.

Berenato was fired on Nov. 7, 2023 at a special board meeting, with the dismissal taking effect immediately. The board claimed he failed to disclose a 2010 drunk‑driving conviction and license suspension on his employment application.

NJ American Water Launches 2026 Summer Camp

New Jersey American Water today announced the launch of the 2026 Flow Forward Summer Camp Program in Camden, offering high school students from Free All Minds and Women of the Dream a three-day workforce development experience featuring hands-on learning, mentorship, resume and interview preparation, and networking with water industry professionals.

The program will be hosted July 14-16 at American Water’s headquarters on the Camden Waterfront and New Jersey American Water’s Delaware River Regional Water Treatment Plant in Delran.With American Water headquartered in Camden, Flow Forward reflects the company’s continued commitment to investing in local youth, expanding career awareness and strengthening connections with the community it calls home.

Public Feedback Requested on Canal Master Plan

Residents from across New Jersey and visitors will have an opportunity to share their perspectives on shaping the future of the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park during a series of upcoming public engagement sessions. The canal is one of the state’s most popular recreational corridors.  

The Delaware & Raritan Canal Commission, the state regulatory agency within the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection that is responsible for adopting and implementing a master plan for the park, has scheduled five sessions to discuss and gather input on its work to update the 1989 Master Plan.

Jefferson Health Honors 2026 Project SEARCH Graduating Interns

Jefferson Health recently honored 17 graduates of the Project SEARCH Class of 2026 at ceremonies held across its New Jersey hospitals in Cherry Hill, Stratford and Washington Township.

The graduates completed a yearlong internship experience through Project SEARCH, an international transition-to-work program that helps young adults with developmental disabilities prepare for competitive employment through immersive workplace training.

Advisory Alert

Overnight lane and ramp closures are scheduled on Al-Jo’s Curve, Route 42 northbound, I-295 northbound and I-76 eastbound tonight and tomorrow night as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County. The lane and ramp closures, as well as traffic slowdowns, are necessary to install structural steel. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays when traveling through the work zones.

I-295 southbound to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound (Al-Jo’s Curve) Ramp Closure

Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 10 until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, July 11, the I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound, also known as Al-Jo’s Curve, is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The right lane on I-295 southbound also will be closed just after Exit 28/Route 168, and the right lane on I-76 eastbound is scheduled to be closed after Exit 1B through Exit 1A. All motorists traveling on I-295 southbound will be directed to stay left onto Exit 26. The closures are necessary for retaining wall construction. The following detour will be in place:
