Camden Man Charged with Human Trafficking, Prostitution, Crimes of Violence

Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) announced today that a Camden man has been charged with human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and acts of violence against two women whom he allegedly forced to commit commercial sex acts.

Keith B. Woodson, 40, of Camden, is charged by complaint with multiple counts of first-degree human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and aggravated assault.

“Human trafficking offenses are particularly egregious because they exploit vulnerable victims for financial gain,” said Attorney General Davenport. “We will continue to identify those responsible, support survivors, and prosecute offenders.”

Corson and Rothwein Named IWLCA All-Americans

Rowan’s Elaina Corson and Madison Rothwein have been named to the 2026 IWLCA All-America Team, with Corson earning selection to the second team and Rothwein gaining a spot on the third team. It marks the second year in a row that the Profs have placed two players on the All-America squad. 

Corson (Hainesport, NJ/Rancocas Valley), a senior, is a repeat All-America Second Team selection, having earned the honor last year. The attack player closed out her career as one of the Profs’ finest. She is Rowan’s all-time leading scorer with 332 career points (273g, 59a) and tops the Profs’ list for goals with 273 in her four years. 

She recorded 81 goals this year, which led the NJAC and ranks eighth in the nation. She added 19 assists to total 100 points, which gives her 100-plus points in back-to-back seasons. Corson notched five game-winning goals on the year and had a high of nine goals in a win over Sewanee.

Sherrill, Jain Announce NJDOT’s First Design-Build Contract Award

Governor Mikie Sherrill and New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Priya Jain today announced Agate Construction Company, Inc. and A. Servidone, Inc./B. Anthony Construction Corp. JV have been awarded a $47.7 million contract for the Department’s first Design-Build project, the Route 50 Bridge over Cedar Swamp Creek replacement project, located in Upper Township, Cape May County.

“When I took office, I made clear that we were going to do things differently and deliver for the people of New Jersey. That means taking more efficient, innovative approaches to modernizing our aging infrastructure. The Route 50 Bridge project reflects that, by replacing this critical connection to Cape May County and key coastal evacuation route through New Jersey’s first-ever Design-Build approach. By combining design and construction into one streamlined process, we’re cutting delays, lowering costs, and delivering this long-overdue upgrade faster for New Jerseyans.”

Philadelphia Police Officer-Involved Shooting

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at approximately 10:22 AM, Sergeant #1 was in full uniform operating a marked police vehicle in the area of Kensington Ave and Hart Lane. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that Sergeant #1, who was assigned as the street supervisor for the Kensington Police District, was flagged down by an individual who pointed out a male that he had been involved in a disturbance with and indicated that the male (defendant) was armed with a firearm. Sergeant #1 approached the defendant regarding the disturbance. During the encounter, a physical altercation briefly occurred between the defendant and the complainant before the defendant fled on foot southbound on Kensington Avenue. Sergeant #1 pursued the defendant on foot into the rear area of a property on the 2800 block of Kensington Avenue.

Rowan earned its second NCAA National Champion

Damitrius Hester won the javelin with a new #2 Division III all-time mark of 74.94 meters to break his own school record giving the men’s team its second-straight champion of the three-day meet as David Brown captured the high jump crown on Friday. Hester, who hit the new record on his final throw, becomes the 44th national champion in team history and sixth in the javelin event.

The men’s team (85 points), who were looking for a sweep of Division III Track & Field this season after securing the NCAA Indoor Championship back in March, was the national runner-up to the host Eagles (106 points). The second-place result gives the Profs its best finish at the outdoor championships. UW-La Crosse claimed both men’s and women’s national team championships over the three-day meet.

NJ Warns Hotels, Rentals on Junk Fees Ahead of FIFA World Cup

As New Jersey prepares to welcome visitors from around the globe for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and the Division of Consumer Affairs (Division) are issuing guidance warning hotels and short-term rental housing providers against charging junk fees to consumers and putting them on notice that hidden fees and deceptive pricing tactics violate the law in New Jersey.

Guidance published by the Division today reminds businesses that New Jersey’s consumer protection laws require honest, transparent pricing and prohibit bait-and-switch tactics that mislead consumers about the true cost of lodging. The guidance comes as New Jersey is set to host eight World Cup matches in June and July 2026.

2026 Best of the Class

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! Camden County is Proud!

The Camden County Board of Commissioners honored more than 200 senior students from 30 public and nonpublic high schools throughout Camden County as The 2026 Best of the Class! “We are proud to recognize seniors from every high school in Camden County who have demonstrated pride in academic achievement and strive to improve themselves while helping others in their communities,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Ed McDonnell. 

The Best of the Class Awards honor students in eight categories: Most Courageous, Community Service, Leadership, Performing Arts, Most Improved, School Spirit, Best Overall, and All-Star Athlete. This year’s event was held on Tuesday, May 19th at Camden County College. How Serious Are Payroll Tax Penalties?

Official figures from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) show that nearly 40% of small-scale enterprises incur payroll tax penalties. The amount usually ranges from $850 to $1,000. During the 2024 fiscal year period, the IRS handed out over 4.4 million penalties resulting from employment tax issues. These penalties amounted to almost 26.9 billion U.S. dollars in total.

According to Jacksonville payroll tax attorney Angie Smith, Esq., any payroll tax violation can have severe penalties for employers. Payroll tax penalties serve as the federal tax system’s most severe enforcement method since they impose financial burdens on taxpayers while maintaining a permanent record of their debts after their businesses cease operations.

David Brown’s High Jump Title Leads Rowan University at NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE, WI — David Brown became Rowan’s second national champion in the high jump to highlight day two of the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Brown hit a PR with top effort of 2.15 meters to lead three other Profs in earning All-American honors. He is the third Rowan Student-athlete in as many years to be a national champion and 43rd all-time in program history. Noah Wampole was third (2.12 meters) and Jamile Gantt was fourth (2.09 meters) to earn first-team All-American. Damarion Potts earned second-team honors with his 14th place finish (2.03 meters).

Jason Agyemang clocked in a PR and the top time in the 110 meter hurdles prelims (13.72), which was also a meet record. Agyemang joins Kwaku Nkrumah (13.88) in the finals tomorrow. Anaias Hughes was 12th (14.42) and Val Augustin was 15th (14.63) as the duo garnered second-team All-America accolades.
