Bill Regulating Deceptive AI-Generated Real Estate Ads Clears Housing Committee

With artificial intelligence (AI) making it increasingly easy to manipulate photos and videos, the Assembly Housing Committee advanced legislation yesterday that would regulate the deceptive use of AI and heavily altered images in certain property listings. Assemblywomen Carmen Morales and Mitchelle Drulis and Assemblyman Al Abdelaziz sponsored Bill  A4728.

“Searching for a place to live is already stressful enough without people having to wonder if the listing they are looking at is even real,” said Assemblywoman Morales (D-Essex). “When people can hide serious problems and exaggerate conditions, we have a serious problem. We must do everything we can to protect our residents during one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.”

Rowan Softball Stays Alive In NCAA Tournament

#16 Rowan fought its way back to the NCAA Tournament Regional Final with a 5-1 win over St. Thomas in an elimination game Friday evening at the Marshall Regional on the campus of East Texas Baptist.

The Profs (37-9) move on to take on the host #6 Tigers needing two wins to advance to the Super Regional round tomorrow starting at 11:00 a.m. (CT) / 12: 00 p.m. (ET) with the ‘if necessary’ game 30 minutes after.

Historic School House Opens at Bellevue State Park

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control held a ribbon cutting for the historic Mount Pleasant School House at Bellevue State Park, one of the first public schools in the state of Delaware. It is one of several major projects completed in the last six years.

The Mount Pleasant School House was built under the Free School Act of 1829, which divided each county into many school districts and provided funding to build a school house in each district. The one-room school house, designated as School District No. 2, was a common school where children of all ages learned reading, writing, arithmetic and English grammar together, led by a single teacher. It was used for nearly 35 years from 1830 to 1864, primarily serving the children of the local farming community. Today, Mount Pleasant Elementary School and Mount Pleasant High School are schools that descended from the original school house and are part of the Brandywine School District.

Maple Shade Police Request The Public’s Assistance

The Maple Shade Police are requesting the public’s assistance with obtaining any available home video surveillance that may show actor(s) or vehicles involved in the recent rash of vehicle burglaries.  Reported incidents occurred in the area of the Maple Shade High School and Alden Park (overnight – Thursday, 5/14 into Friday, 5/15).  Residents are asked to forward any video clips they may have to tips@mapleshadepd.com.  Please include any information you may have, along with your name, address and contact information.  If you have video, but are unable to upload it to an email, please send your contact information and we will follow-up with you.  Thank you for any assistance your are able to provide!

#18 Rowan Women’s Lacrosse Places Six Players on the All-Region Team

Rowan’s Elaina Corson, Leah Corkhill, Alexis Lowry, Madison Rothwein have been named to the IWLCA All-Boardwalk Region First Team while Fiona Lockhart and Jenna O’Neill were named to the All-Region Second Team. 

This marks Corson’s third consecutive year on the All-Region First Team while Corkhill, Lowry, Rothwein, Lockhart and O’Neill are earning the honor for the first time.

Bronze Star Recipients, NASCAR Hall of Famer Among Dignitaries for Dover NASCAR All-Star Weekend 

Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer, NASCAR Hall of Famer Donnie Allison and Chief Master Sergeant of the Space Force John Bentivegna are among the dignitaries scheduled to participate in pre-race ceremonies for the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 17.

Serving as grand marshals for the NASCAR All-Star Race are three Airmen from the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base who recently received the Bronze Star Medal from the United States Air Force for meritorious and heroic service during a 12-day war deployment at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar: Col. Bryan Ellis, Lt. Col. Robert Shuler and Maj. Brandon Gremillion.

DNREC Communications Team Earns Multiple First-Place Awards from Delaware Press Association

DNREC earned multiple first-place honors from the Delaware Press Association, recognizing its Office of Communications for excellence in communication and storytelling.

DEP Accepting Nominations For Recycling Awards Program

Individuals, local governments, organizations and business leaders are invited to submit nominations for the state’s annual Recycling Awards Program to recognize outstanding recycling, waste reduction and sustainability achievements, Department of Environmental Protection Acting Commissioner Ed Potosnak announced today.

The DEP, in partnership with the Association of New Jersey Recyclers (ANJR), is accepting nominations in 11 categories. Those interested should review the 2026 Nomination Packet to assess eligibility and complete the nomination application. Applications must be submitted to njrecycles@dep.nj.gov through Friday, July 24.

Preservation New Jersey’s 2026 List of 10 Most Endangered Historic Places

On Wednesday, May 13, at the Monmouth Boat Club in Red Bank, Preservation New Jersey (PNJ) announced its 2026 list of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places in New Jersey, elevating a statewide call to protect the historic, cultural, architectural, and archaeological resources that define New Jersey’s identity and collective memory. More than 55 advocates gathered not simply to recognize endangered places, but to confront the growing reality that the systems designed to protect history are themselves increasingly at risk.
Now in its 31st year, the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places program continues to spotlight the urgent threats facing New Jersey’s historic resources, from demolition and deferred maintenance to unchecked redevelopment pressures, climate impacts, disinvestment, and the lack of sustainable preservation funding. Yet the program also reinforces a broader truth: historic preservation is not about nostalgia. It is about safeguarding the physical places that tell the story of who we are, where we came from, and what communities choose to value for future generations. Read Full Story

Bill Would Safeguard Access to Reproductive Health Care in New Jersey

Recognizing that health care decisions are best left between patients and their doctors, the Assembly Health Committee today advanced legislation that would strengthen protections for both patients seeking reproductive health care services in New Jersey and their providers.

Bill A2218 would ensure that patients have the freedom to make medical decisions with their reproductive health care providers, without interference from other individuals or entities. Assemblywomen Shanique Speight, Ellen Park, Annette Quijano, and Luanne Peterpaul sponsored the legislation.
