A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Two Men Arrested on Threats, Extortion, and Conspiracy Charges

John Alite, 63, of Englishtown, New Jersey, was arrested on June 19, 2026, and charged with multiple counts of theft by extortion (second degree), corporate misconduct (second degree), usury (second degree), and terroristic threats. It is alleged that Alite made loans in excess of the maximum rate permitted by law and subsequently obtained the property and monies of victims by threatening to commit violent acts.

He is also alleged to have misused his corporation, Straightened-Out Entertainment, Inc., to promote his criminal scheme. Alite is a councilman in Englishtown.

CCPO Promotes Four Veteran Investigators

Camden, NJ – Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay is pleased to announce the promotions of four veteran members of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

On June 22, 2026, Lieutenant Michael DeGregorio, Lieutenant Thomas McDonnell, Sergeant Matthew DiDomenico, and Sergeant Salvatore Russomanno were sworn-in by Prosecutor MacAulay before Chief of Detectives Robert Ferris, First Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Chatten, and Chief of Staff Michael Mangold.

HUD and VA Announce Funding to Support Over 2,500 Homeless Veterans

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Doug Collins today announced $33 million in funding for the HUD–Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program. The funds will support 2,532 new HUD-VASH vouchers for homeless Veterans across 265 Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) in 44 states. View local impact.

Trash & Recycling Collection in Winslow Township

Beginning on Wednesday, July 1st, Winslow Township will begin collecting waste from black lid trash toters and all green lid recycling toters, which was previously done by Waste Management. Going forward Winslow Township will now collect all curbside residential waste. We appreciate your patience as we transition to this new role.

There will be no change to the schedule or collection requirements at this time.

Congressman Van Drew Announces Lake Lenape Dam Wins National Dam Award

Today, Congressman Van Drew announced that South Jersey’s Lake Lenape Dam has won a national competition held by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) for their highest honor, the 2026 National Dam Rehabilitation Award. The project was made possible after Congressman Van Drew secured $4.6 million in federal funding to replace the deteriorated, high-hazard dam.
