Marion McCarty Brown

In 1968 a young teacher came to Alice Costello School. As a 14 year old I fell in love with this young teacher.

We remained friends from that day forward. As my family grew so did our relationship. In the cold of winter or extreme heat of summer we would meet her with my family at Manco & Manco for pizza in Ocean City.

Upon her retirement she spent her winters in Florida where I would spend a week for Austin’s spring baseball game. Then follow the day up eating whole Lobsters.

Yesterday Ms. McCarty / Mrs. Brown, Marion or “The Principal” passed away after months of suffering. Jill and I were fortunate enough to see Marion one last time Sunday. It was hard leaving knowing that may have been our last time together.

We laughed as best we could, sometimes you wonder if laughter was a good therapy.

Knowing Marion was in the loving hands of her daughter, son and grandchildren made our trip back home easier. Rest in Peace Marion McCarty Brown

Marion A. Brown (nee McCarty) On March 14, 2022 of Washington Twp. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Brown. Devoted mother of Thomas P. Brown (Karen) and Heather Halicks (Robert). Loving grandmother of Nicholas, Hailey, Lucy, and Cody. Dear sister of James McCarty and Nancy Basara.

Marion. Mar. Sissy. Mom. Grammy. Aunt. Friend. Colleague. Principal. Mrs. Brown. Marion was known by many titles. She was a take-charge-never-suffer-a-fool individual. Her strength, courage, and kindness were unparalleled—never hesitating to pitch in whenever, wherever needed.  Never one to stand still, she was always on the go: St. John, Ocean City, Florida. Beaches all over called her name. Finding sea glass was an endless treasure. She delighted in casino trips—slot machines were her game. She always seemed to win…even when she lost. Her biggest jackpot was her precious grandchildren. They kept her spirit ever-young. May her strong, independent will live on in them.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Friday 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM.

Fred Lesser

WEST DEPTFORD NJ–Fred Lesser (81) a West Deptford, NJ resident for 53 years passed away on March 16, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born in Brooklyn, NY, moved throughout the years and attended Clayton High School graduating with the Class of 1958. After retiring from DuPont in Deepwater, NJ, in 1993 he became a school bus driver until 2017. He loved coaching midget football, basketball & baseball in the 60\’s, then experienced umpiring Little League baseball and softball which became his joy until 2017. Fred attended Kemble Memorial UMC, was a member of the Woodbury Poly Pros and was also a proud volunteer on the USS New Jersey BB-62.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Carol (nee Brant) of 58½ years; loving daughters Karlie Pollitt (Mike) of Gloucester City and Janet Sheehan (dear friend Mark) of Bellmawr; 3 grandchildren Drew Pollitt, Brianna Pollitt & Patrick Sheehan; sisters Marilyn Sweeney of Limerick, PA & Joyce Penrod (Larry) of Bushnell, FL; many dear in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great friends and the best neighbors.

He is predeceased by his parents Bill & Goldie Lesser and 3 sisters, Carolyn Groff of TN, Frances Parker of Wales, UK & Gail Pinto-Sanders of FL.

Friends and relatives are invited to his viewing on Saturday, March 21, 2020, from 11am to 12pm at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312, followed by a service at 12pm. As the Lesser family, we understand the precautions being taken at this time which could prevent a visit personally; however, being with us in spirit and through thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated. Jacqueline Mary Dimmerman, age 71, Lifelong member/shop steward for Local 54

Surrounded by her daughters, on March 18, 2020, at age 71. (nee Kaluhiokalani) Formerly of Gloucester City and Williamstown. Beloved mother of Thelma Fagan, Sherry Walker Fuss (late James) and John Walker, III. Cherished grandmother of Glenn VanLeer, Jr. and Thomas Fuss and great grandmother of Leah VanLeer. Beloved sister of Joseph Kaluhiokalani (Tina) and the late David Kaluhiokalani (surviving Lynn). Also survived by her former husband, Joseph Dimmerman and her pups, Bella and Raffy.

Jackie will be remembered as a loving, dedicated and compassionate mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and cousin. Her family always came first, no matter what! She enjoyed the 25+ years she worked as a server at various location throughout South Jersey and Atlantic City, including Tropicana, Claridge and Bally’s. She was a lifelong member and shop steward for Local 54 in Atlantic City and a dedicated and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 10 years. She will be forever remembered for her talent in the kitchen, cooking the traditional family recipes only from memory.

At her request, cremation will be private.

William F Burrows of Pennsauken/Audubon

William F Burrows was called to the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2020. William, “Bill” was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband and grandpop. He was fiercely loyal to his family and loved and cared for them with all his heart. Bill was born in Camden on January 6, 1938 and lived most of his life in Pennsauken and more recently in Audubon, NJ. He was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of the Pennsauken Gospel Hall.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, William and Betty Burrows, four sisters, Catherine, Betty, Emma and Lillian, and great niece, Kimberly O’Neil. Bill is the widower of his late wife whom he adored, Elizabeth Burrows.

Bill is survived by his nieces and nephews Carl Heller, Jr (Sarah), Allen Black, Debbie O’Neil and Holly Preston (John), and great nieces and nephews, Carl Heller III, Ava Heller, Katie Heller, Steven O’Neil and Jared Preston. By his late wife Elizabeth Burrows, Bill is survived by her children, James Sell (Margaret), Stephen Sell (Vera), Linda Dickinson (James) and Carolyn Kemble (Walter) and grandchildren Kaitlin, Kelsey, Morgan (Michael), Macy, Kyle and Delaney and great grandchild Russel.

Reba worked as a bus driver for 25 years with the Holcomb Bus Company, Bellmawr. She also worked for several years as a waitress. Reba loved being with family, shooting pool. She had a big heart and loved to help everyone.

Kevin O\’Donnell “Heavy Kevy”, of Williamstown, formerly of Gloucester City, Rams Alum

Kevin aka “Heavy Kevy”, O\’Donnell, age 59 of Williamstown, New Jersey passed away peacefully on March 12, 2020 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband to Vickie (nee Curtis) O’Donnell, devoted father to daughters Devin and Riane

O’Donnell. Cherished son of Thomas J. O’Donnell and the late Kathleen (nee Delahunty) O’Donnell.  Son-in-law of Wilma Curtis and the late Charles T. Curtis.  Kevin was happily married to Vickie O’Donnell for 21 years. There is nothing in the world he valued more than his family.  He is survived by 5 siblings – whom all share the most remarkable bond with each other.  Dr. Deborah Mulgrew (Joe), Kelly Duffy (John), Tricia Cunningham-McNulty (the late Steve McNulty), Michael O’Donnell (Denise), and Thomas E. O’Donnell, Esq. (Ruth). He is also survived by an uncle, aunts, cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin was from Gloucester City, New Jersey. He graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1978 as a proud Ram.   He received a degree in business and finance from West Liberty University. Kevin worked briefly as a stockbroker but most of his career was in the mortgage industry.  He was a valued employee of Greentree Mortgage Company in Gibbsboro, New Jersey.  Kevin worked in the mortgage and banking industry for over 30 years.  He was an active member of the New Jersey Mortgage Bankers Association and was commonly considered a “mortgage savant”.

Kevin was well-known as Heavy Kevy, a champion Wing Bowl competitor and commentator.  He was a proud winner of Wing Bowl 2 and 3 and went on to be inducted into the WIP Wing Bowl Hall of Fame. If you knew anything about Kevin O’Donnell, you knew he had impeccable style. He was always well dressed, and he enjoyed working as a mortgage banker very much.  He was a devout Catholic, and a friend to anyone in need.  As a kind and compassionate man, he sought every opportunity to comfort and support those who needed help in any situation. He enjoyed coaching football, watching sports, hanging out with his girls and binge-watching Dallas, The Sopranos and Live PD.  An avid music lover – Kevin could quote the lyrics to nearly any song between 1970 and 2000.  A Phillies and Eagles fan till the end, he assures us all he will talk to the Big Guy about getting us another Super Bowl win this year.

There will be a viewing from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Monday evening at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.  Viewing Tuesday morning 9:00am to 10:00am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Cherry Hill – On March 10, 2020. Age 62. Letitia worked for many years as a Registered Nurse with the Philadelphia Nursing Home in Philadelphia.

Ray was born and raised in North Plainfield, NJ. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from October 31,1944 to May 17, 1945 as a private. Ray proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from August 20,1945 to October 14, 1946 as a Private First Class. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from May 12, 1950 to July 23, 1951 as a Naval Cadet in Pensacola, Florida. After his proud and honorable military service, Ray worked as a technician for Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ. He was the owner of Ridge Associates in Rockaway, NJ.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Ray’s visitation on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 9:30 am to 10:45 am at The Catholic Church of Saint Isaac Jogues (Chapel): 349 Evesboro – Medford Road, Marlton, NJ 08053. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am in the church. U.S. Marine Corps Military Honors will follow Mass. Cremation private.
