Former PTO Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Theft

Woodbury, NJ – Tara Webb, 37, of Deptford Township, was sentenced today to 5  years of probation and ordered to pay full restitution by the Honorable Renard L.  Scott for third-degree theft by unlawful taking pursuant to a plea agreement. 

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court: In her former position as treasurer for the Shady Lane and Pine Acres Early  Childhood Center Parent Teacher Organizations, Webb stole money from the bank  accounts of both organizations over the course of more than a year. The total  amount taken was $99,378.06. 

In accordance with her plea agreement, Webb will have to repay that full amount.  She will also serve 5 years of probation, may not have any contact with the victims and is banned from working in fundraising or fund management for any nonprofit  organization during her term of probation. 

The State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Narline Casamir. 

Prosecutor Johns also thanked the Deptford Township Police Department for their  assistance in the investigation that led to today’s sentencing.
