Overnight Incidents

On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian occurred at 26th Street and Penrose Avenue in the 1st District. A preliminary investigation determined that a black tow truck was traveling westbound on Penrose Avenue when it struck a pedestrian in the intersection. The tow truck fled westbound on Penrose Avenue toward the 12th District. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene at 9:28 p.m. and remains unidentified at this time. The investigation is ongoing with the Crash Investigation Division.

Earlier that day, at approximately 10:34 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 6800 block of Castor Avenue for a reported stabbing. Officers located an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The motive appears to be domestic in nature, and a person of interest is in custody. The investigation remains ongoing with Northeast Detectives.
