Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Joseph Murphy, of the Wildwood Police Department, issue a serious warning to the public regarding a recent seizure of methamphetamine that is colorful and uniquely shaped in a manner that may resemble a child’s vitamin or candy. The seized methamphetamine presents a serious public safety concern due to its appearance, which may attract the attention of children and increase the risk of accidental ingestion. Parents and caregivers are urged to be especially vigilant, as children may not recognize the danger posed by colorful or uniquely shaped substances.
On September 17, 2026, Wildwood Patrol Officers responded to the 200 East block of Spencer Avenue for an individual with a handgun. After further investigation, patrol officers located the suspect, identified as 36-year old Mark Davis of Vineland, NJ. Wildwood Detective’s executed a search warrant on Davis’ vehicle where they located the narcotics and a handgun. Davis was charged with Possession of Weapon, a crime of the second degree, Certain Persons not to Possess a Weapon, a crime of the second degree, Possession of CDS, a crime of the third degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, a crime of the second degree.
The Cape May County Forensic Laboratory was utilized to analyze the suspected narcotics seized and provided rapid results that the items seized were positive for methamphetamine.
Prosecutor Sutherland ensures the community that the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force is working diligently with all of the local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies to target distributors of these illegal substances in an effort to prevent any tragedies from drug related overdoses. Prosecutor Sutherland urges families to educate their children and loved ones as to the dangers of such illegal drugs and to continue to report any information regarding illegal drug activity and or any criminal activity within the community.
