SBA Disaster Assistance Available for New Jersey Businesses, Private Nonprofits

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced the availability of low-interest federal disaster loans for eligible small businesses and private nonprofit organizations impacted by drought beginning April 26.

Eligible Counties

New Jersey: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, and Salem

Delaware: Kent and Newcastle

Pennsylvania: Bucks, Delaware, and Philadelphia

PA archery season starts Saturday!

Pennsylvania’s statewide deer archery season opens this Saturday, October 3 and runs through November 20, then reopens from December 26-January 24.

If you hunt from an elevated stand, always wear a full-body safety harness whenever your feet leave the ground.

Overnight Incidents

On September 30, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to Pat’s King of Steaks, 1237 E. Passyunk Avenue, for a reported assault.

Police learned that a male allegedly threw a cheesesteak at an employee’s face before fleeing. The employee was not injured.

On October 1, 2026, the male turned himself in to police and was charged with the summary offense of Harassment. His name is not releasable.

Camden County 4-H Annual Haunting

It’s Haunting time and Camden County 4-H volunteers and members are busy transforming Lakeland into the annual Haunted Walk. The Haunted Walk will be held on Oct. 16-17 from 7-10:30 pm. The walk takes place in and around the Camden County Office of Sustainability at 508 Lakeland Road, Blackwood. Suggested for children ages 8 and up, the Haunting serves as the largest 4-H fundraiser of the year and has been held for more than 30 years.

A DJ will be spinning Halloween tunes each night, and Entertainment by Magic Ed and special guests from the Sam 4 Magic Club will amaze people with nightly shows at 8:30 pm. For an additional cost, there will be face painting, pumpkins, and snacks and beverages available.

15TH District – Shooting

On September 30, 2026, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 24-year-old male walked into Jefferson Frankford Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower back.

The victim was placed in stable condition. The scene was located on the 4200 block of Vista Street and held for investigation.

No arrests have been made at this time.

This investigation remains active and ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group.

Anyone with information about this incident are asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.

Westville Contingent Meets With 55 Developers

Westville, NJ (CNBNews)–On Wednesday, September 16th, Westville officials attended “30 Mayors & 30 Developers” held at Rowan College of South Jersey. The attendees included Mayor Sims, Council

President Nordaby, Councilmember Lawrence, Administrator Giles, Superintendent Finger of DPW and Planning & Business Development Committee member and resident Renee Gay.

The event was designed for towns to showcase and promote their respective towns wants and needs related to redevelopment and attracting businesses to their downtown business district. The Westville contingent were able to connect and network with many of the approximately 55 redevelopers who signed up to attend this event.

WESTVILLE, NJ (October 1, 2026)(CNBNews)-Mayor Fritz Sims along with Councilman Lawrence recently welcomed owner Osiris Portorreal and his staff of the Dominican Cafe & Restaurant to the community. The Domican Cafe and Restaurant is located at 183 Broadway.

Sims thanked the owner for establishing his business in the community of Westville. Osiris received a borough welcoming packet from the mayor on behalf of the community.

Third Legislative District representatiives and Gloucester County Commissioners attended the event. The mayor encouraged all residents to visit the Domican Cafe and he asked the public to SHOP LOCAL!
