The winning 13 pieces of artwork are featured in the 2027 calendar highlighting the importance of Atlantic HMS to healthy ecosystems and to celebrate NOAA Fisheries’ successes in conservation through sustainable fisheries management. 2027 Art Contest Now Open!
This Year’s Theme: Sustainable Fishing of Sharks, Tunas, Swordfish, and Billfish!
NOAA Fisheries invites kindergarten through eighth grade students to participate in our annual Atlantic highly migratory species art contest. We’re working through art to educate students on the importance of Atlantic highly migratory species to healthy ecosystems. Students from all U.S. states and territories in public, private, and home schools are eligible to participate.
The theme of the 2027 Atlantic highly migratory species art contest is sustainable fishing of sharks, tunas, swordfish, and billfish.
For the species mentioned, the artwork should highlight their:
- Important role in fisheries;
- Fishing methods and gear types; and/or
- Relevance to fishing communities.
All entries are due by January 31, 2027.
The winning artwork will be featured in our 2028 Atlantic highly migratory species calendar.
