Kresson Road Will Be Closed Thru Traffic

Kresson Road will be closed to thru traffic from 7 p.m. today, August 14 continuously until approximately Saturday, August 15 at 9 p.m. Additionally, there will be a hard closure at the bridge/stream crossing between Middle Acre Lane and Ravenswood Way.

“Crews will be working around the clock this weekend in an effort to make substantial headway in this project ahead of the back-to-school season,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “We continue to thank the public for their patience as we undergo this major renovation which will improve the drivability and traffic flow of Kresson Road.”

DNREC Closes Seaford Fishing Pier Based on Unsafe Structural Findings

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has closed the Seaford Fishing Pier located within the Seaford boat ramp fishing access area on the Nanticoke River after structural flaws were detected during an engineering assessment of the pier this week by the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife.

The assessment of the pier, which predates DNREC’s construction upgrades to the Seaford boat ramp in 1997, raised several structural concerns, including support pile deterioration and a sinkhole forming from a faltering bulkhead. Based on those structural findings, DNREC closed the pier as unsafe for anglers and public access.

Concert at Wiggins Waterfront Canceled

Camden County Roadwork

Several roadway projects will be underway across Camden County during the week of August 10 to August 14.

“Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris.”

Audubon

Crews will be working on East Atlantic Avenue on Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 14, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a partial eastbound road closure between West Merchant Street in Audubon and Station Avenue in Haddon Heights.

Barrington

Crews will be working on Third Avenue on Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 14, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be a full road closure between Kingston Avenue in Barrington and West High Street in Haddon Heights.

Newswise — The temperature will be heating up along the East Coast this week. When the temperature rises outside, a car can be a dangerous place for children. A car can heat up 20 degrees F in just 10 minutes. Even on a cloudy day, the temperature inside a car can reach more than 115 degrees Fahrenheit when the temperature outside is just 70 degrees. A child can die when his or her temperature reaches 107 degrees F. In 2026, 17 children have died from being in hot cars across the U.S.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code orange air quality alert Sunday for Ocean County and southeastern Burlington County New Jersey. A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children…people suffering from asthma… heart disease or other lung diseases…and the elderly. I-676 southbound overnight lane closures Monday and Tuesday night

I-676 southbound is scheduled have lane closures next week on Monday and Tuesday nights as a bridge replacement and paving project advances in Camden and Gloucester City, Camden County.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, August 10 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, the right lane on I-676 southbound is scheduled to be closed between the Bridge over Newton Creek (mile post 0.6) and the I-76 Connector (mile post 0.2). A second lane will be closed at 9 p.m. Construction is expected to begin in the right lanes and move to the left as work progresses. The closure is necessary to restripe the roadway and shift traffic to the right in preparation for a long-term left lane closure, which will be implemented on Tuesday night. At least one lane will be maintained overnight.

Consumer Safety Alert: Fake Squishy Toys

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers about fake and counterfeit squishy toys that may pose serious risks to children. CPSC is also reiterating its warning about serious burn hazards associated with a viral social media trend encouraging children and teens to microwave squishy toys.

Squishy toys — including popular animal, food, and character-shaped squeeze toys — are widely sold through online marketplaces, social media, discount stores, and other retailers. CPSC is aware of fake and counterfeit versions that do not comply with federal safety requirements for children’s toys, including requirements addressing water beads, small parts, lead, phthalates, and other hazardous substances.

Delsea Drive/Route 47 alternating traffic Friday night in Deptford

Delsea Drive/Route 47 is scheduled to have a single lane closed overnight near Bennet Drive tonight with traffic maintained using an alternating traffic pattern as a corridor improvement project advances in Deptford, Gloucester County.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, August 7 until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, August 8, a single lane is scheduled to be closed on Delsea Drive/Route 47 near Bennett Drive. The lane closure is necessary to restripe the roadway, place barrier and shift traffic. Alternating traffic will be maintained overnight.
