Woolwich Man Found Guilty of Murder in 2021 Shooting of His Stepfather

Woodbury, NJ – A jury found Christian Smith, 27, of Woolwich, guilty of first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose Tuesday following a two-week trial before the Honorable William Ziegler, J.S.C. According to documents filed in this case and the evidence presented at trial: On Oct. 9, 2021, Smith and his stepfather Dennis McKenzie, Jr., were arguing in their home over offensive comments Smith made about the sexuality of McKenzie’s daughter and her friend.

Missing Endangered Adult Female Mary A. Jones

On October 28, 2025, at approximately 9:57 a.m., Mary A. Jones, age 69, was reported missing. Ms. Jones was last heard from by family members on October 3, 2025.

Ms. Jones is described as a Black female, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Her clothing at the time of her disappearance is unknown.

The investigation has determined that Ms. Jones traveled internationally to Guyana and was expected to return home during the week of January 12, 2026. She did not return as scheduled, and her current whereabouts remain unknown.

The Gloucester Township Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance. Anyone with information regarding Ms. Jones’ location is urged to contact 9-1-1, the Gloucester Township Police Department at 856-228-4500, or the GTPD Anonymous Crime Tip Line at 856-842-5560. Apartment Leasing Office Destroyed In Overnight Fire in Gloucester Township

On Saturday, January 10, 2026 at approximately 2:26 am Officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department were dispatched to the Lakeview Apartments, Leasing / Management Office, to investigate a combination fire alarm and burglar alarm activation.

Arriving Firefighters from Chews Landing observed heavy fire conditions from the unoccupied apartment complex leasing office and requested additional fire suppression assets, initiating a 2nd Alarm. Officers from the GTPD initiated road closures on Lakeviews Drive and Pine Run to support fire suppression efforts. A unified command post was established with Police, Fire, EMS and Camden County Communications. Along with Chews Landing, the following FD’s also assisted: Blackwood, Blenheim, Glendora, Erial, Magnolia, Bellmawr, Runnemede, Lindenwold, Somerdale and Cherry Hill.

The Gloucester Township Police Department in a continuing effort to foster an even better police community partnership would like to invite any Gloucester Township, New Jersey resident 16 years of age or older to attend the Citizens Police Academy. The course will include an overview of the police department and the administration, police communications, special operations, criminal investigations, traffic safety, K9, Special Response Team, Crime Scene Unit and much more. Also, all attendees of the Citizen Police Academy will be trained in the use of CPR for the home.

Two Arrested for Child Sexual Abuse Material in December 2025

Camden County, NJ – Two Camden County residents were arrested last month for crimes related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Investigations conducted by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit, including task force officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department, Camden County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Cherry Hill, in collaboration with the Camden County Police Department, led to the following defendants being arrested in December 2025: • Jeffrey Mauer Jr., 38, of Gloucester Township • Mauricio Nemorio-Reyes, 22, of Camden Jeffrey Mauer Jr. was charged on December 5, 2025, with 2nd-degree Distribution of CSAM, 2nd-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute CSAM, and 3rd-degree Possession of CSAM.

Tis the season for joy, family, and generous gifts – from new laptops and tablets to gaming consoles, electric scooters, and other electronics under the Christmas tree. But did you know that burglaries often spike during the holidays, with thieves targeting homes full of shiny new valuables.

Take one simple step today to safeguard your presents: Photograph the serial numbers on all expensive gifts, especially electronics! Why? If stolen, serial numbers help police identify and return your items!

It’s quick: Just flip the device over, find the serial number (often on the back, bottom, or in settings), and snap a clear photo. Store them securely in the cloud or email them to yourself!

Gloucester Township Police Join 2025 ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ Holiday Enforcement Campaign

The Gloucester Township Police Department has been selected to participate in the Division of Highway Traffic Safety’s 2025 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over year-end holiday crackdown, running from December 5, 2025, through January 1, 2026. This national initiative, coordinated through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), focuses on reducing impaired driving through high visibility enforcement during the holiday season, when alcohol-related crashes and fatalities historically increase.
