GLOUCESTER CITY NJ May 11, 2015 (CNBNews.net)–Gloucester City Police, on May 6, at 3:45pm, responded to the area of 8^th and Cherry Streets for a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident where the suspect in the vehicle fled.

Leopold Leonard \”Uncle Leo\” Kacmarcik was called back to heaven after ninety-one years, four months, and eighteen days. Born in Graceton, PA and raised in Nemacolin, PA, he was Roman Catholic. During the summer Leo, like his father, was a coal miner at the Buckeye Coal Mine where he learned teamwork and leadership skills through hard work. A natural athlete in high school, Leo varsity lettered in football all four years at Carmichaels High School in Carmichaels, PA. Having earned all of the academic requirements for graduation, Leo graduated from high school six months early and with his mother’s blessing, proudly volunteered to serve his country from 1943 through 1946 in World War II and later in support of the Korean War.

FBI (May 11, 2015)–Preliminary statistics released today by the FBI show that 51 law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty in 2014. This is an increase of almost 89 percent when compared to the 27 officers killed in 2013. (Note: From 1980–2014, an average of 64 law enforcement officers have been feloniously killed per year. The 2013 total, 27, was the lowest during this 35-year period.) By region, 17 officers died as a result of criminal acts that occurred in the South, 14 officers in the West, eight officers in the Midwest, eight in the Northeast, and four in Puerto Rico.

WOODBURY NJ–Antwan Hood (DOB 8/2/83), of Paulsboro, pleaded guilty today (5/8) to second-degree aggravated arson and contempt of a court order, acknowledging he brought gasoline and matches to a West New Street home on 4/3/14 and set a fire.

Hood also said he knowingly violated a restraining order, a fourth-degree crime, on the same date. He was arrested at the New St. residence, igniting a pile of leaves against the wall of a house. He has remained in jail since then in default of $75,000 bail.

CAMDEN, N.J. – A member of a criminal street gang that used threats, intimidation and violence to maintain control of the illegal drug trade in Atlantic City, New Jersey, was sentenced today to 240 months in prison on drug conspiracy and weapons charges, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

WOODBURY NJ May 8,2015– Daron Trent (DOB 10/17/84), of Hamilton NJ, described as a known gang member and the accused murder of a 25-year-old Paulsboro man, today was denied in his request to be released from jail and placed on home electronic detention while undergoing surgery and rehabilitation.

Trent’s lawyer, Frank Trosky, did not specify the nature of Trent’s \”substantial medical condition,\” but said Gloucester County’s top correctional official agreed his treatment could not be addressed with Trent in jail. Therefore, Trosky said he was asking for a modification in his client’s $750,000 bail.
