12th District Fatal Shooting Investigation
The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 9:40 AM inside a residence on the 6500 block of Regent Street in the 12th District. Responding officers located a Black male in his mid-50s suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower left back. Medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene at 9:55 AM. Police have secured the area. No arrests have been made, and no motive has been established at this time. The investigation is actively ongoing with the Homicide Unit.
25th District Shooting Investigations (Temple University Hospital Walk-Ins)
Officers from the 25th District are currently investigating two separate, unrelated shooting incidents involving walk-in patients at Temple University Hospital.
- 1300 Block of Tioga Street / 4900 Block of Old York Road: At approximately 5:55 AM, officers responded to the hospital’s emergency room after a male victim in his 20s arrived suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest. He is currently listed in stable condition. Investigators subsequently located a Black Chrysler 200 in the area of 1300 Tioga Street displaying approximately 12 bullet holes. Shortly thereafter, 35th District officers discovered a related crime scene in the area of 4900 Old York Road containing 12 .223-caliber fired cartridge casings (FCCs). Both the vehicle and the location have been secured as crime scenes.
- Belmont Plateau Incident: Earlier that morning, at approximately 3:00 AM, 25th District officers were notified of a 20-year-old male victim who walked into Temple University Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to his left wrist and left thigh. The victim reported that the shooting occurred at the Belmont Plateau. The motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
Both incidents are under active investigation by the Shooting Investigation Group.
Northwest Detectives Division Stabbing Investigations
Police are investigating two separate, unrelated stabbing incidents that occurred overnight in the Northwest area of the city.
- 600 Block of Church Lane (14th District): At approximately 12:49 AM, officers responded to an apartment on the 600 block of Church Lane for a reported stabbing. A male victim was located and subsequently transported by medical personnel to Einstein Medical Center for treatment. The crime scene has been secured. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unknown.
- 2100 Block of W. Grange Avenue (35th District): At approximately 12:17 AM, 35th District officers responded to a “person with a weapon” call on the 2100 block of West Grange Avenue. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a 32-year-old female victim who reported attending a family gathering following a funeral. A verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation involving her boyfriend’s sister (identified as a 37-year-old female) and two unknown family members. During the fight, a firearm was displayed, and the offender struck the female victim in the head multiple times with the weapon, causing lacerations. When the victim’s boyfriend (a 35-year-old male) and her 14-year-old son intervened, the offender stabbed both of them multiple times. The female victim also sustained a laceration to her left finger. All three victims self-transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center. The 35-year-old male was initially listed in critical condition but has since been stabilized and is expected to survive; the other two victims are in stable condition. Police recovered a 7-inch black-handled knife and located a blood trail at the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.
Both stabbing investigations remain ongoing with the Northwest Detectives Division.
