Search For Father And Son In Water Off Oahu

The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching Tuesday for a missing man and teenager in the water off Hanauma Bay on the eastern side of Oahu.

Missing are a 49-year-old man and his 16-year-old son. Family members reported that the pair departed their hotel around 7 a.m. to hike the Hanauma Bay Rock Bridge Trail.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., a good Samaritan found a backpack containing the man’s personal effects near the trail and alerted authorities. Additionally, Honolulu Fire Department personnel found the man’s car near the trailhead entrance.

After receiving notification from the Honolulu Fire Department at 11:11 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Honolulu and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point.

I-295 southbound/Al-Jo’s Curve closed and detouredtonight and Wednesday night in Bellmawr

The I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound, also known as Al-Jo’s Curve, is scheduled to be closed and detoured tonight and tomorrow night as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County. In addition, overnight lane and ramp closures are scheduled on Route 42 northbound, I-295 northbound and I-76 eastbound tonight, tomorrow, and Friday nights. The lane and ramp closures, as well as traffic slowdowns, are necessary to install structural steel and construct a retaining wall.

Four-Hour Power Outage in Gloucester City

UPDATE: The power outage was not the reason why electricity was loss in the Riverview Heights section of the city, according to a spokesperson for Public Service Electric and Gas.

Kathy Hennessy Riley, PSE&G Corporate Communications, said the cause was weather-related. “I wanted to clarify that the traffic light pole that was struck at Broadway and Market Street was not the cause of the local power outage that affected the Riverview Heights section of the City on Monday night.

The outage, which affected approximately 2500 customers, was weather-related. Crews worked to safely identify and address the issue and restore service to affected customers as quickly as possible.”

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (CNBNews) (June 22, 2026)--The traffic light at Broadway and Market Street is apparently the cause of the local power outage that affected the Riverview Heights section of the City. The local police did not report how the light was knocked over. Neither did they release any information on whether there were any injuries. Businesses and residents lost electricity around 2 PM. It was restored at 6 PM.

Traffic lights along Broadway from Kohler Street to Market Street were offline. Many of the businesses along that stretch of highway closed their doors due to not having air conditioning. Residents living in the Carpenter Square Apartments were also affected.

Public Service Electric and Gas first notified customers that the electricity would be restored by 7 PM. Service was restored at 6:10 PM.

The traffic light at Broadway and Market Street was struck by either a car or a tractor-trailer. Work crews from Public Service Electric and Gas were at this location for several hours. Residents and businesses lost electricity around 2 PM today. Electric was restored around 6 PM. Local police released no information to the media about the incident.

Camden County Roadwork

Several roadway projects will be underway across Camden County during the week of June 22 to June 26.

“Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris.”

Audubon

Crews will be working on East Atlantic Avenue from Monday, June 22, to Friday, June 26, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a partial road closure eastbound between East Merchant Street in Audubon & Station Avenue in Haddon Heights.

Barrington

Crews will be working on Copley Road on Wednesday, June 24, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be a partial road closure westbound between Warwick Road & Mercer Drive

DEP Forest Fire Service Releases First Annual Wildfire Report

The DEP Forest Fire Service released a report on the 2025 wildfire season that saw substantial increases in the number of wildfires and acreage burned statewide, and reminds residents and visitors to New Jersey of the important role they have in protecting their communities and reducing wildfire risk.

The report is the first of what will become an annual analysis by the Forest Fire Service looking back at the previous year’s wildfire metrics in the context of wildfire trends, causes and response efforts, while helping New Jerseyans better understand the need for wildfire vigilance to help protect lives and property. Of the 1,322 wildfires that burned 27,229 acres statewide last year, nearly all were caused by humans, according to the report. The figures represent a 22% increase in the number of wildfires and a 116% increase in acreage burned compared with the 20-year average.

“Public education and awareness are part of our comprehensive strategy to understand wildfire risk in New Jersey,” said Acting Commissioner Potosnak. “This report is a key component of that approach, helping to explain the many factors influencing wildfires and how communities can partner with the Forest Fire Service to prevent them.”

The 2025 report is available on the Forest Fire Service’s website at wildfire.nj.gov, and on the agency’s social media profiles on Instagram, X and Facebook.

“The Forest Fire Service’s first annual report provides a detailed look at wildfire activity in New Jersey and the factors driving it,” said John Cecil, Assistant Commissioner for State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites. “Understanding the scope and causes of wildfire activity helps us better protect New Jersey’s forests and communities and is an important step in improving transparency and guiding future prevention efforts.”

Route 154 northbound to be closed and detoured beginning Monday

Route 154/Brace Road northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured between Old Bortons Mill Road and Pearl Croft Road beginning Monday morning, June 22 and continuing for several weeks for priority gas main work in Cherry Hill, Camden County.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 22 until 5 p.m. Friday, June 26 and continuing Monday mornings through Friday afternoons at the same time until Friday, July 31, Route 154/Brace Road northbound is scheduled to be closed from Old Bortons Mill Road to Pearl Croft Road. The closure is necessary for priority gas main repairs. The following detour will be in place:
